Quake 2 cooperative mode

I have an original CD of quake 2, and have patched it with the full 3.20 patch including carry the flag.

One problem is driving me crazy - in cooperative mode, there are no monsters!!!

Can anyone help? Playing on a LAN, 2 machines, both XP, connection no problem, single player mode works fine. Help!!

You cannot play Quake 2 in co-op mode as it has not been added by iD software as one of the network game modes. If you want to play it co-op, you will have to install mods such as Co-op or Die.

Thanks for the quick reply. However, all i really want to do is enable coop mode for a home network of 2 computers. Does Coop or Die allow that, or am i missing something? I followed all of the coop or die instructions and tried everything i can think of.

Is there any way my son and i can play coop against all the monsters?
