Ram Issues

I recently picked up some more ram. I switched out all my old ram 16gb ( 4x4gb sticks) and replaced it with 32gb (4x8gb sticks) my comp is now telling me I have 32gb but only 16gb is usable. I went into bios to see if I can change anything, but I can't change any ram settings whatsoever. I also noticed it's telling me I'm at 1333mhz when my new ram is 1866mhz. I'd like to have all 32gb usable and at 1866mhz speed. Any help would be appreciated. My mobo is asus p8h77 pro which says it can take 32gb at 2200mhz speed max.

Which operating system do you have. It is possible the operating system is limited to 16GB. The sounds extremely familiar to the 32-bit operating system notifications when more than 4GB of memory was installed.

Windows XP is limited to 128GB.

Windows Vista Home Premium is limited to 16GB.
Windows Vista Business/Ultimate is limited to 128GB.

Windows 7 Home Premium is limited to 16GB.
Windows 7 Professional is limited to 192GB.

Windows 8 is limited to 128GB.
Windows 8 Professional is limited to 512GB.

Well, that would explain it as I have only windows 7 home. Thanks. Now to upgrade windows lol...
