RemoteCtl.exe error in win 2000 prof system

I am facing a problem.
After log on to my desktop running 2000 prof I am getting the message "RemoteCtl.exe has encountered problems and windows is shutting down this program and you have to restart the program". I have TV tuner card in my system. after this message tv will not work.
i want to get ride of this problem
i want my tv back
it will be great if you can help me

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Start by uninstalling the sofware for your tv card from add remove programmes in control panel.

Then reinstall, and see if that solves the problem.

I know that Windows 2000 doesn`t come with Msconfig as standard, but you can use the XP version, and it will work.

Go HERE and place the file in the specified directory.

Now click start/run and type msconfig. when the window opens click on the startup tab, and see if the remotectl.exe is there, or something similar. Untick it, and click apply/ok.

You will be prompted to reboot your computer.

After your computer has rebooted, a window will appear that says you have used msconfig to make changes etc. Tick the box that says not to run msconfig the next time you start the system etc, and click ok.
