Screen probs

Help. Turned on laptop. Normal. Connected to net and minutes later the screen turned from a blue background to white and it looks like someone has vomitted the Egyptian alphabet all over the screen. Icons etc , still visable underneath all the s.......!!

First, I would be concerned about malicious software - so I would test this by trying to boot from a Rescue Disk (like Bitdefender - https://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-to-scan-your-computer-with-bitdefender-rescue-cd-1263.html ).

If I get an indication that I had malware, I would visit with Broni at https://www.techspot.com/community/forums/virus-and-malware-removal.28/ .

If I clear that hurdle and still have a problem, then I would think that I might have a heat problem (especially if I had not cleaned out the inside of my system in a couple of years). YouTube has many instructional videos for that.

If after cleaning I still had the problem, I would come back here and describe things in more detail - but primarily, I would expect to focus on condition of HDD (does it pass SMART?), check for driver corruption, failing GPU replacement... All of this is too hard to project unless there is DETAIL from you.
