screensaver starts in 1 minute,can't adjust

I'm having a problem witn my screensaver that just happened out of the blue.It starts itself after 1 minute regardless of which one i set it for or what time i set it to start.It won't start if i'm using my mouse ,only after 1 minute of inactivity does it start.I can set the SS program to none and eliminate it totally but would like to re-gain control of it again.I ran a registry cleaner,disk cleaner and just recently defragged ,no help so am stumped.My OS is windows 98SE,am using a celeron processor. do you have any antivirus software or such installed? a virus could easily be causing your problem.
