So you only have PCI slots and want to game?

I got a problem been having this error for some time before I can Dell Technical Support :suspiciou I would like to see if it is software error or hardware ( maybe processor or hd ) when I play these games:

1. Doom 3.
2. Half Life 2.
3. Condemned criminal origins demo.
4. Unreal 1.
5. Duke Nukem 3D with HRP.

I get sometimes a constant moving without pressing keyboard, mouse, or anything whilst playing game what is that I got this happen sometimes, is there any update to Dell diagnostic test I got an old 2005 one on hd.

Need a graphics card for PCI

I have a PCI slot. Not PCI express or whatever, just plain old PCI. What are some good (not to pricey) cards that will work? Nothing too powerful, just something that could play World of Warcraft at a good FPS. I currently have a integrated intel.

Also, does it matter what motherboard I have?

I'd think the dell tools, which normally are on their own seperate bootable partition, are good. I always have a copy of UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ which has up to date disk, memory CPU etc tools.

but I'm not sure if I understand your problem, are you saying that you get game movement without moving the mouse or accessing the keyboard ? Is it a laser mouse or tracker-ball ? tracker ball mice get very dirty inside. keyboard problems can be caused by things becoming jammed beneath the keys. I'd suggest maybe trying another mouse/or keyboard to eliminate these

The mouse roller ball one had a lot of dust on the rollers. The keyboard looks okay, it happens sometimes.

Well I doubt it's a software or disk problem. I have only seen this problem with an old IBM Thinkpad where , over time the touchpad mouse went out of calibration. I'd assume that game movement must happen because the software is receiving input indicating movement. Can you swap the keyboard for a while with another one, in case one of the keys has an intermittent fault ?

I would also cross post on the dell support forum http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board?board.id=dim_bios there are some good people on there .

I really don't want to pay over $60. Like, I said, it doesn't have to be amazing.

The Evga 6200 256MB is your best choice then. The card is always under 60 dollars. Circitycity has it, newegg has the card and many other places has it for 39-59 dollars. :)

Hello I'm new here. I've been looking to replace my Geforce 5200FX card with just about anything that has a better frame rate. Its a good card but I need something more and Dell with their PCI only models... well you all know or this thread wouldn't exist. Any feed back would be very helpful. I'm pretty sure I've filled out the info below correctly.
Thanks

1. Motherboard - OTC667 by Dell
2. Graphic interface - PCI GeForce 5200FX
3. Memory - DDR 512MB
4. CPU - Intel Celeron
5. CPU Speed -2.40GHz
6. Power Supply Make/Model - Dell Dimension 3000
7. Watt output/Amperage

Can't recommend anything less than the Sparkle 8500GT PCI until the Albatron 8600GT is released. Google shopping search the Sparkle card and you will find about 10 or more vendors that sell it. With PCI's limited bandwidth, no one should have anything less than this if you are going PCI only for GPU. I don't know why Newegg even carries that Sparkle card in the other post when the 8500GT is over twice as powerful.

Also, see my post in this thread about requesting the Albatron 8600GT from Newegg as no one carries it now and the only way we'll see it is if we petition someone like Newegg. thanks

Yea it is, all new pci cards, use a special pci to pcie bridge or whatever, i mean if you look at some of the gpu-z shots, it reads pci express on them for pci cards.

Well I'm confused

Here's a pic: (click to maximize)

So these cards, can't go in that middle one, can't they?

No, they are pci cards, they can fit in PCI. But they have a special , i meant pcie to pci bridge or whatever, so it may read pcie in gpu-z shot.

Thank you Rage and Teklord for the info. It was all very helpful. Mostly I'm glad to see I'm not alone in this area. For the longest time I felt the only solution was to buy a new computer. I wanted to, but this one isn't that old, really.

Again, thanks for everything.

What card are you thinking about buying?

9400GT and 9500GT availability ?

Tha General - The press release for the 9400GT and 9500GT is over a month old, you know anything about availability already, or are we currently chasing Nessy ?

A pci card with a fan on it and not a heatsink is does it shake when the fan spins just a question.

Also could some one who owns a 8400/8500 sparkle with HDR on the card if they own Left 4 Dead by Valve software and you need 1GB of ram to play it. could some one if they own the game post a screen shot.

Also if you have a pci express x1 slot this one is good 64bit though :(

And your point it? I never said they were out, just passing on the news. My guess sparkle will add them to their list soon and release them at a later time.

Does the card shake? I wouldn't know. My 6200 i never check, unless i have my tower open, but my tower is always close up.

I am pretty sure you can play L4D using the 6200 cards. So the 8400gs or 8500 shouldn't be a problem with the game.

Are you thinking about buying a pcie express 1 8400GS?
And also to answer your question, after using the 6200 for over 2 years, which has a 64bit bus, there is nothing wrong with having 64bit. Plays games just fine, with really no loss of performance.
