Speaker volume broke

Hey, recently i was palying my music pretty loud with a few friends over and the volume spider on the speakers broke. as in they're always on the top now, i can turn down the pc volume to 0 and still hear static buzzing. its really getting anoying, i thought i could deal with it and jsut turn the volume on my pc down but its getting to the point where its crackling and making lo screeching noises. is there an application thats able to change the volume on the speakers themselves and not the pc?

Speakers are very fragile. The failure rate is very high when they are over-driven. The only real fix is to replace the speakers, and perhaps the audio card as well.
