Star Citizen is free to play until June

Do they have more than a couple of planets and space ports to fly around in yet?

I bought it years ago and check back occasionally if only to marvel "is this all there is still"??

starcitizen_refunds Reddit is a hoot if you want the contrarian view..

3 minutes to load into the character creation screen, another 5 to load the game... First thing that happens? I get off my bunk and drop through the station floor all the way towards the planet.

Exit game, uninstall. This game is the biggest fiasco in computing history.

A modern Privateer was all fans of Origin and Roberts were waiting for, not this piece of crap.

Sounds like you installed it on a HDD.
You need an SSD for the game. Loading tine will be 30-49 seconds and you will not fall through the floor because it will load in time.

That's the price of not having loading screens in a star system sized game.

There's something seriously wrong. It constantly says my account is entered incorrectly or the captcha is wrong.

These are the WORST captchas I have ever seen in my life.
Same thing happened to me, I had to change my info under account settings on their site, also the Captcha's were the worst I couldn't see anything. Anyone colorblind is screwed haha

Yup feature creep is not good for no game or atleast one you expect to finish this decade.

I am not even mad, it's an ongoing publicly funded development project. If it comes out, great! If not, oh well. As long as people get their money worth playing it, it's cool.

I'm with you I'm not a backer of this game but for those that have spent years waiting I hope it comes out and is great.

I spent an hour tying to quantum jump. Then gave up and never came back :D

Set a navigation point using mobiglass map (F1), press B to go into quantum spooling stage and align the ship towards that point,... hold B to jump.

You can't really expect them to hold your hand and show you how everything is done in an alpha. things change literally from patch to patch.

It has expanded considerably.

Naturally. DUH.

Think I spent £100GBP on this game (give or take 20) and while I am not mad, I wish I stuck with just the basic package.

I did. I saw a loading bar with spool flashing on the screen and then nothing.

I honestly love this game, is buggy as hell and the 30k server errors were getting beyond a joke recently (3.9.1 seems to have fixed a lot of that for me) but man, the potential this game has is incredible. Finally, something new in the gaming world.

I reckon we'll see a huge increase on stuff to-do and the game world as a whole once SQ42 is released as there are ships / locations / mechanics they simply can't put into Star Citizen until SQ42 has launched.

Plus ya know, Server Meshing should be their top priority right now as the more they add, the worse the servers seem to be getting, that and the universe is being designed with lots of players and AI moving about making the universe seem very empty a lot of the time. At least I hope they can get the netcode in a state a server can support 200 players and AI running about.

This is what I am trying to explain to some people that call it a scam. Sure it might be a black hole that will swallow all resources and spit out **** all, but it might create a quazar. Maybe that is a **** analogy ...

Anyway point being, not many development studios take big risks, CIG has and while it has had rough patches, questionable decisions and internal organisation problems (see Glassdoor recruitment post) it is still trying to push forward a lot of new innovations and combining aspects which made other games great. Blizzard did this once upon a time.

Failure of Star Citizen is something that the haters would love just to spite and be "in your face" attitude, but the benefit of this games success is far, far, far greater.

Honestly, I was once one of those people, No way I thought, no way could they deliver on their promise, fast forward a few years, I had some spare cash and early 2018 I bought a package, kept up-to-date and read all the back story etc...

I see exactly what they're creating and it has bigger implications for game development than people realize. You can hear it in the Dev interviews when they get excited at the small (but actually large) details like it has a proper, real Sun! Something as basic as the Sun has always been faked in video games, so have day and night cycles, not here.

I could go on and on as to why and how Star Citizen won me over, I've always enjoyed getting lost in another world, be that The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, WoW. Star Citizen though ticks absolutely every single box for me.

Further to the upside, 1 TB SSDs will likely be about $50.00 by then.
Sadly no.

The trend is like with other electronics.

They sell you the same amount of storage capacity (1 Tb) for the same price years down the road, BUT, they make the drive faster and faster.

It is only recently with 144 layer and up when we can see storage increase to 2 Tb for the price nearing what 1 Tb was a year prior.

Ok, if you want to play Star Citizen, go jump in with a small twitch streamer, watch youtube how to play videos, or a friend that plays. This is not a game you can just start up and play by yourself. It is complex, with a lot moving and yes buggy parts. If you just jump in you will just get frustrated and say "This game sucks". And it will for you because you won't know how to play, SC is different BTW to walk faster or slower just scroll wheel up or down.

The map is about a 1/6 of the size of our solar system and would take about a year to cross without a Quantum drive, even then travel can take ten or twenty minutes between locations with a slow drive. You can start on a planet, go to spcae, fly to a moon land anywhere on it without a single loading screen, it's all one map.

While it is a sand box, game loops there is pvp and pve, trading and mining with more planned. Think GTA with effective law enforcement (this include pvp bounty hunting, get gud before you try that). Most ships can be bought in game if you grind enough credits. I watched a streamer buy a hammerhead anti fighter corvette with in game credits.

New content is released about every quarter, so there is always something new to checkout and experience

Fair warning you will deal with bugs every time you play, and it will be best and worst gaming experience you will ever have. It is not a game for everyone yet, but the level of detal and care the dev put in to it is there for you to see.

If you decide to jump in welcome to the verse. You will find the community the friendliest in gaming for the most part. Just jump into general chat and ask if you have questions.

Good luck and fly unsafe ;)
