Stop error while trying to install windows

i get a stop error called 0x000000f4 when i try to install winXP pro on a 80 gig hdd, the mobo is a pcchips..im wondering why this problem is happening..what am i doing wrong?? what should i know before i install an OS on a hdd, what am i suppose to set in the mobos bios?
im getting frustrated ive been trying to figure this out for hours...switching hdds and all..same problem happens...do i need to upgrade mobo bios..how do i do it with out a OS installed?...
please help...i got to get this fixed today...

Are you using sata or ata hard drives?

What type of HDD is it, PATA (IDE) or SATA? If it's a PATA, make sure the jumper on the back is set to master. If it's an SATA, post your motherboard make and model.
