Strange folders on local disk

In my OS hard drive (C: ) there are 2 folders that are literally named just an assortment of random numbers and letters. In one folder is a Update file, and in the other is a txt log file.

Are these important? And what are they?

Thanks a lot.

We would need a lot more info.
Operating system, hard drive brand and model, and what other software is installed.

Thanks guys, on doing a little research - I found out that these are error updates that should actually be in the Temp folder. Other people informed me (who had the same problem) that they are safe to delete. But to be on the safe side, I haven't removed them from my recycle bin yet, I'm just going to wait a while to see if it affects my system at all.

As always, thanks a lot.

I have 2 folders on my HD, one is
\14c2cd48c15b524093002dd680 and the other,
\c218111d685abd150aa55b
They both appeared back in February after an update, I personally wouldn't delete them in the event a system restore were needed...
