System won't boot up

this problem started today, everytime I turn on the computer it goes through disk check procedure. taking some time to get to 100percent, then it says there is no problems. turns off then on again on black screen with start up options of normally, safe mode ect. then starts the procedure all over again. it starts with saying it is checking file fat32. i have alot of family pictures on the computer i would just be horrified to loose. please help. this is a sony desktop


the model number is sony vaio pcv 7732 and operating on windows xp home.

What is the model of this Sony Desktop? What version of Windows are you running? XP Home?

1. check your ram with memtest 86 booted from a floppy or cd for at least 7 passes.
2. check your PSU with a tester tool and a multimeter.
3. ALWAYS backup.
