Hello all - New kid on the block here. About a year ago Techspot bailed me out when my computer started taking 10 minutes to boot. I took detailed notes and wrote them in a notebook, which I now cant find. Now I have exactly the same problem. Not sure where to take my problem so I have started here. Thanks for any directions...

Well, first I would defragment the drive and run a virus scan of course. Next you should run Spybot S&D and use the "System Startup" tool to see which programs are running at boot. Go through the list and disable anything that doesn't look useful. Usually you won't really hurt anything by doing this, I just cleared the list and everything worked fine. :dead:

just click start run and type msconfig and Startup..that tells you what all is booting up you can also disable everything,,
