Upgrading CPU on same OS

Hi
I was wondering if any body knows if it is ok to up grade a cpu on the same os with out having to redo my machine.

I curently have an ASUS P4C-800e delux motherboard and a P4 3ghz with 512k L2 cache and would like to update it to a P4 3.2ghz with 1mg of cache. I
also have Win XP PRO installed.

I am just looking to swap the cpu's with out having to do a lot of work.

It's usually not too hard to do such a move especially when both CPUs have the same specification except the overall speed. In this case, the overall speed is higher, the cache is bigger & there are a few extra instructions brought on by the Prescott core (sse3?).

You can always try to uninstall mainboard specific drivers & force Windows to redect them hoping it'll properly detect & install the new CPU at the same time.
