Video is playing sorta whited out

Hello I have a Toshiba Satellite A105 Laptop. It has a 1.8 gig centrino processor. Running windows xp Pro media edition. My video card is a Calistoga Graphics Controller Mobile intel 945 GM Express Chipset Family 128 mb. My problem is when I go to play a video it plays like it is sorta whited out or missing some of the color kinda like a negative on a film strip. I am very confused. I have updated my windows media to see if that fixed it and nothing happened. This happens as well when I play a dvd not using windows media player. However if I use itunes to play a video file it plays normal. What could be causing this?

i had the same problem i went to the micrsoft page and downloaded direct x and it fixed it for me i hope this helps .
