I rebooted my HP laptop W 8.1 & noticed the desktop picture was in the right lower quarter of the screen
it should obviously be in the center. I tried changing pictures but no change.
Ignorantly, I did a system reset that allowed me to save my pictures, documents, etc, etc.
Upon reinstalling 165 plus MS updates, I went into the MS store app to get my 8.1 ms update but it said app don't work or wording like that so I went here https://www.techspot.com/downloads/6500-windows-8-1-update.html & tried downloading but it didn't work. Am I stuck with W 8 now? :( Or ?? If it would work to a complete re install, I will. TIA for any ideas

I cannot or will not try to explain it, but after successfully resetting my HP laptop to W 8, I did some googling & found this http://www.extremetech.com/computing/168685-how-to-download-and-install-windows-8-1-for-free
It did not work so I knew I would be stuck with 8. I then installed some security programs & did some scans, one took 10 plus hours. It done, I gave up for the day.
This morning as I was streaming my local news from the laptop top tv, a pink banner covered most of the screen, I didn't read the entire thing, but it mentioned upgrading to 8.1. I jumped at the chance. I am now in the process of installing the necessary MS updates.
Lesson learned? If it aint broke, don't fix it.(y) (Y)(y) (Y)
#EDIT# Success:)(y) (Y)(y) (Y)
