Wearable finger mouse brings precision control anywhere, no desk needed

Something to look forward to: Designers have been attempting to reinvent the computer mouse since the earliest iterations were demonstrated in the late 60s. Many would agree that the form factor is pretty well dialed in and refined at this stage, yet folks are continually working on the traditional pointer's potential successor

The latest candidate to replace the handheld mouse is the Finger Maus. Think of the wearable computer as a pulse oximeter, except it performs the functions of a computer mouse instead of checking your blood oxygen saturation level.

The Finger Maus is a lightweight, wireless control device for use with computers, tablets, and other pointer-ready gadgets. It is rechargeable, works best when worn on the index, middle, or ring finger, and does not require a flat surface to operate on like a traditional rodent. It is also said be quieter to use than a regular mouse and is better for the environment considering less material is needed for construction. It is literally a computer mouse for your finger.

The 3D printed wearable was conceived by inventor Max Eternity, and has been in development since 2010. We don't have all of the specifications at this hour but Eternity says the device is non-toxic, lightweight, and comfortable.

While no doubt a niche product, the Finger Maus could certainly meet a need or fill a gap in the market. For example, elderly customers or those with limited movement may find it easier to use a finger-mounted mouse rather than a traditional pointer.

The company says it'll be sold on Indiegogo and available sometime in September 2025 although a specific launch date was not mentioned and I was unable to find it listed on the crowdfunding website. As always, pricing will be key and unfortunately we don't have any details to share on that front either.

If you are interested or know someone that you think could benefit from such a product, be sure to bookmark Mauswear's website and check back in the near future for updates.

A guy did something like this in Kickstarter over a decade ago, never went anywhere except away with everyone's money. Not that it is not a possibility, just a bad track record of developing mouse replacements. Better off with a chip in the head......

As a mouse worshiper, I have to say that a good system like this one would be the equivalent of a touch screen but with the advantage of a configurable acceleration. The huge drawbacks would be its weightlessness and the lack of scroll and many buttons.

The Chinese made it long time ago. And it is surprisingly good at 1/3 of the Western-company produced price (no matter where it is made, but my guess is, they still ask China to make) new-found finger-mouse. (Looks like the original fad went down, and now being refreshed again.)

I bought it few years back, and it is surprisingly intuitive. Good when you are on the bed late at night (without gf or wife beside) and playing some games or just browsing.

(Yeah, I know what you guys are thinking - you would rather be "fingering" a babe on the bed, than playing or browsing the laptop.)

Now, I'm mostly using thumb-ball mice. Feel more natural for me. ... No...don't start again with thumbing...

Would be cool if one of the 3 employees working there listed on their website had a tech background so they could actually make a prototype to show us how it works. Also they could get a chatgpt account and make a video instead of white text on a black background like the 2nd video on their website. No offense, but if this is what they have after 15 years of development, we'll all have neurolink before then. They don't even have any specs. is it bluetooth? wifi? how do you click if you're not on a flat surface?
