What game first got you hooked on gaming?

I remember getting absolutely hooked on Wolfenstein 3D whenever I was at my cousin's...wildly inappropriate for my age but it was such a great game

My first game that got me addicted was Tzar for the PC. A real time strategy game, much like Age of Empires for example. On consoles the first game that I really got into was Final Fantasy X. Even though I had been playing for a while on the PSOne, it was the PS2 that really got me into gaming.

IIRC, the first game that got me hooked on gaming overall was TMNT on the NES (this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_(arcade_game. Used to play it with my sis basically every day after school. As far as PC goes, it was either GTA2 or AoE, can't remember which of those games I played first but I do remember wasting quite a lot of time on both. Though I've been playing PC games before those 2, no other game hooked me on gaming as much.

I am gamer basically last 20 years.
And remember that Diablo, Championship Manager 01/02 and Commandos 2 were really addictive back in the days.
But I must confes that EVE Online got me dreaming about the game, thinking about ship setups, economy, doing extra effort outside the game, like Corporation forum, excell spreeds for minning and profit.
In 2 words TOTAL ADDICTION!
It cost me real money, and I still have account just in case my addiction kicks in :)
3 years in total

I'm still playing EVE after 4 years haha, I love it. I don't play as much as I used to with kids now, but it's still great.

First game that really had me hooked would have to be The Legend of Zelda. I must have gone over to my uncle's house (my parents didn't allow video games at the time, and I was too young to object much) every chance I got to play that game. I remember playing Galaga and Centipede, too, though, way back...

Umm for me it's a toss up, but the two games that really got me started were Ninja Gaiden on the NES and Unreal Tournament on PC

Ultima IV on Apple IIe. On the PC, I was hooked on Warcraft II multiplayers. I could play over Kali 8 hours straight. I believe Kali was the first Internet multiplayers game service.

The first of mine was "Pokemon Gold" which I played on the emulator when I was about 6-7. Still, I have been a pokemon-aholic since then. Now I don't play it anymore but I'm still a big fan of it. :)

A friend bought this Mattel Intellivision and the Major League Baseball game. He could have been rich if he charged us rent, we could not stop playing that thing. I ended buying one later. I think I still have it and a bunch of games somewhere in the house.

I really cant remember what game got me hooked, I remember when I was younger my family had an nes at the time and I played like, startropics.. zelda, megaman..

the thing that got me hooked for rpgs though was playing the original chrono trigger on snes then beating it and getting all the endings on playstation, I believe theres like 12? my bro when I was little, told me, "chrono trigger has 500 endings!" so gullible :(

Very Hard to say a single game, but my earliest memories of playing games are maybe when I was like 6 or 7 year old and I remembered trying to do my best on school so my dad will buy me an Atari 2600, and when I fianlly got it I got the game River Raid, and that was the most awesome game for me in a long time, until I played Super Mario Bros with my cousins, then my request for christmas was a NES :) Oh! and if this was about PC gaming, the original prince of persia hook me up, but I never played like a hardcore for like 10-12 hours straight until I discover Age of Empires II

The game that really got me hooked on video games? I would actually say that it was Final Fantasy VI. That game finally confirmed to me that I was a hardcore gamer. I remember preordering the game for $95 at what used to be Babbage's way before GameStop gobbled them up. I played plenty of games before FFVI, but that was the first true gaming experience that I could enjoy over and over.

I had an Apple II Plus at the time, and I remember playing the original Castle Wolfenstein, Ultima and Taipan. The first game I played for eight hours a day was Ultima Online, and now I play EVE a few hours a day when I can.
