Win XP freezing on Win XP load screen

hi everyone / this problem is on my #1 desktop/ i know this is a common problem as i have been looking through the forums but i cannot get past this point /it makes 7.5 runs and that is it / i have tried hard drive as first boot / dvd/cd as first boot/ am using a laptop at the moment/ please help

Can you boot in Safe Mode? If so do a CHKDSK on your HDD.

hi winxpert / big problems

the problem is that i cannot get past windows xp boot in page / the three blue squares run about 6-7 times then it stops / only way out is push reset button/ cannot enter safe mode

Do you have your Windows XP installer?

You may have to go to the Recovery Console and do the repairs there.

How to Enter Windows XP Recovery Console

at the CMD prompt type

CHKDSK C: /P

if you have drive D: type

CHKDSK D: /P

an so on...

to end the session type

EXIT
