Windows exlporer problem

    First, I want to thank you guys for replying re: uninstalling vista and stalling xp.

    Now I have another problem. my laptop (gateway) windows xp pro) will not start. every I try to start and when it shows "windows is starting up" here comes the following :
    windows explorer has encountered a problem and it needs to close. I tied Safe Mode, the same thing.under more info (in the message)
    name: explorer.exe ver: 6.0.2900 2180 mod name: deskbar.dll
    etc, etc
    and one question, Is windows explorer the same as Internet explorer?

    No, they're not. Windows Explorer enables you to navigate and search through various folders and files in Windows. You already know what Internet Explorer does.

    As this is a different problem than the original I'm moving it to the appropriate forum so you might get a better shot at getting it fixed.
