WinXP SP2 remembers all my Network connections on ICS

  1. I'm running ICS network between 2 PCs. Few weeks back the network slaved PC dropped the internet connection. After many tries of uninstalling/reinstalling the network connections and drivers etc., I discovered the stupid crossover cable connection had broke (1 wire broke inside the connector).
So I fix this and all is fine again, but now in the Network Connects window it shows my 2 on board NICs as Internet5 and LAN6. It seems to remember that I had installed these then removed them etc. Can I just right click and rename them or will this cause Bill Gates to come to my house and slap me, or just XP to delete itself off my HDD??

Bill Gates will definitely come and slap you.

.. But if you can deal with that, it is okay to rename your network connections.
