WLAN at airports(or any other wireless hotspot) works with my Dell Studio 17 while the same fails to do so with my father's Latitude D630.But when i connect the Latitude directly to the Broadband modem through the network cable..internet works. Why is that so?The Network catcher can catch the available wireless networks but when i enter any website..it doesnt load.....and the bytes recieved in the network activity indicator is always zero!

Latitude Config:
C2D 1.8Ghz
1GB DDR 667
120GB 5400Rpm HDD
Intel PRO wireless 3945ABG Net

You might get a simple book or magazine on Wireless... or read a lot of stuff about it on the internet... There are a few simple, but important things you are missing... particularly about networking.
You might want to download the free version of Network Magic, then spend some significant time reading how things work.
The D630 is a decent unit that should give a lot of service. Just avoid passwording it.
I suspect your problem is simple security settings that are detected but not explained by your system.
