Write Error using sony DVD RW DRU-840A burner

Hi

i just purchased this sony external dvd burner and am having a little bit of trouble burning pre-authored dvd files to DVD+R DL discs.....well the first movie i burned worked fine and after that i had to trash four new dual layer discs. btw i'm using nero burning rom and the error message i keep getting

Test your drive with Sony's "DriveCheck Diagnostic Tool" (be sure to read that page).

it is working now

i just went to the store and bought some sony DL discs and i seem to have no problems.....btw the discs that i trashed were memmorex, total **** discs.
