X says China used hundreds of bot accounts to amplify fears about AI data centers that many Americans already share

US does not employ hundreds of thousands people that post on Chinese social platforms 24/7 praising USA.

Hiring keyboard warriors is strictly a feature of oppressive or not democratic countries.
I get it why they need the bots, though. They have huge economical and social problems inside. That is something a dictator cannot allow to see.
... You do not hire bots.

But naturally, you don't include yourself in that group.
There's no shame in not being intelligent... Ironically, people often take pride in not being physically fit, or in being weak - when that's something you can actually improve upon with some exercise... Intelligence is basically set at birth - and while you can "exercise" your brain, you can't really get any smarter - just more knowledgeable...

That you think you're clever by posting this says more about you than me however :)

If AI becomes the next "big thing" (which most of the elite believe), then NOT being at the forefront would doom the US into relying on China... and that would eventually end their reign as the premier superpower - which many would argue will happen anyways simply due to China's vast population advantage...
IMO, you are lost in the current state of things. Having AI data centers will not make the US superior to China in AI. There are some, already, that say China's simpler approach to AI makes their models superior to anything that any of the "big names" in AI are working on. IMO, what makes the US a superpower is its technical prowess in weaponry.
People can put whatever statements they want out about AI - it's a free country - but there are entire fields that are becoming (or have already become) reliant on AI and this will only continue into the future. Fortunately, those who make the decisions in the US seem to realize this and while they pay lip-service to "anti-AI" propaganda, they are still going ahead with it.
And you are missing the fact that many companies have tried AI, have found it does not meet the marketing hype, and have turned away from it https://greyjournal.net/hustle/grow/why-companies-pulling-back-from-ai-2026/ To think that we cannot rid ourselves of AI is to only look at half of the issue.
In general, people tend to be lazy, selfish/greedy and stupid... Those who aren't lazy tend to use this to exploit those who are... pretty much every system in the world rewards selfishness/greed - provided you don't APPEAR too selfish/greedy. It doesn't reward Lazy - which, fortunately, is the one trait you can actually improve on.
And, as I see it, people are catching on to this just like they did in the 1900s and are turning against the "Tech Bros" who want to run everything and think that they cannot make mistakes. That is exemplified in this pushback against AI data centers and the pushback against Musk. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. George Santayana
FACT CHECK!!! It's really not that hard to do nowadays... but alas, so many are too lazy to do it... Nowadays, in order to build a datacenter, a company needs to provide a plan for providing electricity - utility bills of the locals DON'T go up any more - but people read one article from years ago and assume that it's true without FACT CHECKING!!
Well, fact check, the reason for at least one of the moratoriums on the construction of data centers is to study the problem and find out all the issues associated with data centers before committing any more resources to them. Power is only one issue of a myriad of issues associated with data centers. Some people want to think first and make informed decisions later and not jump the gun to what might be useless piles of junk tomorrow.

And you don’t think AI has military application?!

AI is in its infancy… to say it doesn’t meet the hype is premature… let’s see what it can do in a decade… or less…

Yeah… people bashed electricity in the late 1800s/early 1900s too… don’t see too many like that anymore though… so yes, PLEASE learn history :)

What moratorium? They’re still being built and will continue to be built over the next several years.

I didn't say the author of the article shouldn't be allowed to speak, I just said he was wrong and I provided evidence lol. Why are you even asking this question?
I think you have evidence and opinion confused. lol
You might also be wrong that there is a monetary interest for Elon Musk to lessen AI data center pushback. SpaceXAI has a small number of AI data centers in a regionally specific area. Their plans is to avoid the problem altogether with orbital data centers (although that is a number of years away).
lol. Really? Yes, I know, the chief bloviator himself, Elon Musk said so. lol What else has he said or claimed to dream up that was certain to happen? That colony on Mars, Yeah, that has happened; in fact, I'm posting from Mars right now! lol The vacuum tube transport system, yeah, that's officially dead. lol It may be hard to swallow as I know you think your investment in his "industries" is going to make you ungodly rich, but what is happening to SpaceX stock price? Try FSDAX you'll likely do better in the long run. And Tesla is converting to making humanoid robots because the market in those is going to go through the roof while the market in Tesla EVs is bottoming out and will face some extreme competition in the next few years with others being way ahead of Tesla on Solid State Batteries.
They also benefit economically by other AI companies being unable to build AI data centers effectively because they sell AI compute to Anthropic and Google. As a matter of fact, if you look at the posts by the X account that was cited, this was the first mention of "data centers" after almost 3000 posts. X is in support of simplifying regulations for AI (front-end), but to date they haven't cared about the data centers (back-end).
Yes, I read the article and it was only 200 posts by the "bot net," and those 200 posts had X all bent out of shape so they had to swoop in like Superman and save the day for the dolts that read that crap without BS filters and believe it. lol
Once again you are not looking at the ulterior motives of China and are focusing on what agrees with your POV. You didn't even mention why China is creating/spreading their propaganda. So I ask you, why do you think China ran this campaign?
Oh, you don't think so? I'm not saying the bot net's deception has any integrity at all, but you seem to think I am. Perhaps you should ask yourself why YOU think that way about what I said in my OPINION. I don't trust a single thing that the Chinese government has a hand in. They, IMO, are stuck on thinking that they can dominate the world. As I see it, world domination is something that cannot survive if it ever takes place.
I highlighted this in my own post lol. This does not have to be a polarizing topic like you're making it out to be. It's worth considering why China is brewing "hatred" and instead figure out if the concerns can be addressed instead of focusing on being opposed to AI data centers (let alone AI).
I pointed to two states on the opposite ends of the political spectrum imposing moratoriums on data centers as an example of one thing that those ends of the spectrum agree on. So is it your point of view that makes the issue polarizing? You tell me.
Generally, I think there are two main reasons China is opposed to American AI. One is because AI labor will be cheaper than Chinese labor, and the other is because China wants to economically improve their position. It seems that when you perceive Elon Musk to be doing this (support AI data centers for economic reasons) it's worth your consideration, but when China does the same you ignore it. Do you just not believe X that it is a China bot farm, or you just don't want AI data centers in the US/on't care the US relies on international AI data centers?
The US isn't relying on international AI data centers. Ask yourself why you think it is. There are plenty of other states that have been sold on the idea of AI data centers, yet you seem to think that all of the states have instituted data center moratoriums.
If it's the latter, then I recommend supporting SpaceXAI who plans to eventually put these outside your neighborhood and above your head.
LOL. Man, you just won't give up on the Bloviating, will you? It sure sounds good, but with Musk's track record of bloviating and not practicing what he's preaching tells me it won't happen. And not to mention the economics of the issue - I bet it's even well beyond Musk's "pocket change" and I am not the only one who sees this - https://arstechnica.com/space/2026/...res-no-way-this-is-economically-viable-right/
I'll tell you a secret. Musk is not an almighty God who can make things like this happen just by saying "Let there be light." lol

And you don’t think AI has military application?!
Never said that. If the military want's AI, they certainly are not going to use civilian data centers.
AI is in its infancy… to say it doesn’t meet the hype is premature… let’s see what it can do in a decade… or less…
The trouble with that is that it takes money to develop and the supply of money is not infinite. If people turn against paying innane sums of money for what is now, in many cases, useless crap, where will the money come from to support this supposed decade of advancement you think is going to happen? This time, read the article - https://greyjournal.net/hustle/grow/why-companies-pulling-back-from-ai-2026/
Yeah… people bashed electricity in the late 1800s/early 1900s too… don’t see too many like that anymore though… so yes, PLEASE learn history :)
You missed the reference. People rebelled against the super-rich in the 1900s and won. Its happening again now.
What moratorium? They’re still being built and will continue to be built over the next several years.
Do some of your own fact checking and look for recent data center news from Texas and New York State.

Never said that. If the military want's AI, they certainly are not going to use civilian data centers.
You said the US being a superpower was based on its weapon tech - AI will certainly be that - there are already numerous examples of it being used already…

That’s an old article - and a key point is
“The pullback isn’t universal. Companies using AI to amplify workers rather than replace them are seeing 2x the cash flow margin expansion of their peers.”

AI is not “useless crap” in many fields (medicine is a big one), and will only get better with time - most companies see this and are investing tons - the money may not be infinite but it certainly is close to being so…
You missed the reference. People rebelled against the super-rich in the 1900s and won. It’s happening again now.
Yeah… what revolution? There was no such thing… the super rich have always thrived…
Do some of your own fact checking and look for recent data center news from Texas and New York State.
Again - there have been public outcries… but… no one has stopped building any datacenters - only politicians saying they might…

Oh...do tell..................I'm so excited to hear your words of wisdom. What exactly does it say about me?

You said the US being a superpower was based on its weapon tech - AI will certainly be that - there are already numerous examples of it being used already…
Yes, and all bringing the world closer and closer to WWIII. Idi0ts who cannot and never will possess ultimate power over everyone on Earth. If they have failed to learn that lesson, they will fail again and bring doom on Earth.
That’s an old article - and a key point is

It won't take much more with all the money being spent on AI. AI will need income well beyond its means and those using it will revolt because they are sick of paying for useless crap. https://greyjournal.net/hustle/grow/why-companies-pulling-back-from-ai-2026/
Edit: And there's even a current article right here on TechSpot about one of the "leading" AI companies doing just that. Imagine that 🤣 https://www.techspot.com/news/113631-zuckerberg-bold-plan-replace-meta-staff-ai-imploded.html
And I'm sure if you want to face reality, you can find more

That's one of the few uses of AI we can agree on where it is actually useful. Chatbots like CoPilot are little more than devices designed to keep your attention purely for entertainment purposes only. In fact, CoPilot's usage agreement says that it is "For entertainment purposes only." I've got better things to do than use useless crap like that.
Yeah… what revolution? There was no such thing… the super rich have always thrived…
Well then you are the one who should learn history. Look at what happened to the ultra-rich in the 1900s. Its easy to do. Just ask AI. 🤣 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Again - there have been public outcries… but… no one has stopped building any datacenters - only politicians saying they might…
I guess that the definition of Moratorium is not well understood; perhaps you need a dictionary reference - https://www.dictionary.com/browse/moratorium

This isn’t reality… it’s some people’s opinions… AI is here to stay… even your own article states that companies that are using it properly are seeing more profits.

Many people love Copilot… it’s really good at summarizing long Teams meetings for example… it’s not for everyone… and remember, it’s IMPROVING all the time…as are ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, etc…

Again… I await your sources for this… if you mean something like the Russian or Mexican revolutions, there was far more to them than “bad ultra rich”… and the end result was that different people ended up ultra rich instead - that tends to be how all revolutions end…
I guess that the definition of Moratorium is not well understood; perhaps you need a dictionary reference - https://www.dictionary.com/browse/moratorium
I understand what it means - and while politicians may SAY they are delaying datacenters, the FACTS remain that they are being built just as fast (or faster) than ever…

Same way X and Meta used bots and fake accounts to persuade the deeply dumb majority of Americans that an orange, deranged, sex offending, narcissistic, criminal, game show host was a good choice for president - and even more extraordinarily despite all the evidence from round 1, they voted him back in a second time!!!

I am 100% ok with data centers with the following caveats:

- They are not built near me.
- They do not affect the cost of my utilities
- They do not negatively affect me or my family's livelihood

Ultimately, I am willing to sacrifice those things for some stranger, but not myself.

Through most of American history we'd just demolish some black neighborhood and build them there but somehow the stars have aligned and these things are being built in a lot of rural predominantly white places which is pretty ****ing funny. I'm sure those folks will complain loud and hard and we'll go back to building them near black people like god intended.
We call that NIMBY.
