Xp Command Line Not Working Anymore

Im getting
error
IS NOT RECOGNIZED AS INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL COMMAND OPERABLE PROGRAM OR BATCH FILE

in anything even ping command.. the only thing that works is cd command..
how do i fix this?
