Another processor question.

Im trying to upgrade my brothers computer its pretty old 128mb RAM 1.2Ghz CPU 32mb GFX card.

what i want to know is how can i find out the socket number of the processor that is currently inside the machine as i want to buy a new CPU but do not know what socket no. my mobo supports.

is the an easy way to find out.

P.S. my methods are limited as i have no internet connection at home so i cant do an online hardware scan or anything like that.

any thoughts?

You might be able to open the case and look at the motherboard for a model number and manufacturer. If you can find these, then we can look it up for you online and find out what cpus it supports.

Another possibility would be to download this software from a computer with internet access:

https://www.techspot.com/downloads/27-cpu-z.html

and put it on a floppy or CD to bring to your computer and install.
