Apple Music songs cannot be copied to an iPod

I have an iPod shuffle 4th generation. When I try to add music and get the error apple music songs cannot be copied to an iPod. I just purchased an album and I'm not able to add any of those songs to my iPod. Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this issue?

Hard Stop the iPod, launch iTunes, connect the iPod and then start it.

There is no viable solution to this problem, as Apple clearly stated in its site that syncing of Apple Music and iPod nano will not happen. However, may try syncing with the Apple Music using a WiFi connection. If the subscription is active, syncing can happen. You can also try by installing Apple Music songs on iPod nano and you should copy the songs to a unique folder.

Thanks for your advice!
Info is over a year old so I'll ask, was the hard-stop effective - - did you get iTunes->iPod sync working?

I long ago moved to music on the iPhone, but "once upon a time", this worked, but as iTunes has had several major changes so utility as of 12/2017 is uncertain. If one is "disparate enough" to put money into a solution, lookup "CopyTransControlCenter".
It will access mobile Apple Devices and sync w/o the necessity of iTunes.
