Broken HDD pins! any ideas?

Hello,

I have a Maxtor 40gb that had a few files on it, i used it to transport files around but i somehow managed to break a few pins off.

Fortunately the HDD still turns on just doesn't show up in windows, the pins i broke off were at the ends of the drive.

Any ideas? could I make a few new pins?

If you have an old drive lying around and you are good at soldering then the pins can be replaced but its not an easy job!!!!

Hi

You could just swap the board off another identical drive, if your in the UK let me know. I have a couple of scrap Maxtor 40 gigs that are destined for the bin once I pull the files off them.

What a coincidence....

I have a PATA hard drive (2.5") of which one of the pins that attaches to the IDE cable just broke off.

Is it time to lay it to rest?
