Budget laptop for £300- £500 ?

Someone already asked something similar.. Since you can't afford anything decent, you just have to pray really 
You absolutely want something with 3 years of warranty and from a company that does not disappear during that time - them cheap laptops tend to fall apart. Sometimes you have to pay extra for the extended warranty - ask for it. If you are unsure about the credibility of the laptop maker, post here and ask about them.
It has to have a mobile CPU in it - you most certainly do not want anything with a Pentium 4 inside. 512MB of RAM is the absolute minimum. Unless you live somewhere really remote and never intend to visit any civilised places, you do want wireless support built in.
Longer battery life and lightness are a plus, but don't expect anything comparable to real business-class machines.
