Hi. When I go to change out my motherboard what will I have to do in order to get my windows running again? Will I have to reinstall windows again and if so will i be able to use my existing key code because my computer did not come with a xp disk instead it had to make 4 different boot disk. Please any info will help.

you will need to reinstall windows from scratch and when the registration point comes up, you will need to call M$ to get a new code. You will need to tell them you did a mobo swap-out.

will I have to reformat the hd? there is a couple of programs on there i would like to keep like microsoft Works 8.5 which was installed when I got the pc. So if I do how eill I go about getting it off the hard drive?

Could he not just keept the HDD that the OS is installed on and install that into his system and then change the chipset etc drivers over? (I'm not even sure if that is possible)
