Back in 2015, four years after he was killed during a raid on his compound in Pakistan, the US government released a list of books and articles that were discovered in the hideout of Osama bin Laden. Yesterday, the CIA released almost 470,000 files that were found on his hard drives, which show he had a penchant for video games (many of them erotic), movies, viral YouTube videos, and anime.

The total size of all the files reaches into the hundreds of gigabytes, but the archive has been split up into four categories—audio, documents, images, and video—to make searching through them easier. As you would expect, the CIA found terror-related material, such as training videos, Bin Laden’s journal, and a clip of a beheading, but there was also plenty of unexpected content.

Movies including Antz, Cars, Chicken Little, and Resident Evil were discovered. There was also a surprising amount of emulated DS titles like New Super Mario Bros and Animal Crossing, along with PC games Zuma Deluxe and Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 2, a torrent for Army Men 2, images for Pac-Man and Perestroika Girls, Final Fantasy VII, and much more.

It seems that Bin Laden (or someone at his base) was an anime fan, too. The whole Devil May Cry series is here, as are animated features such as Street Fighter 4: The Ties That Bind and Storm Rider – Clash of the Evils.

YouTube videos also make an appearance. A downloaded second edition of September 11 conspiracy documentary Loose Change is listed, along with videos for crocheting blankets, baby socks, and beanie caps. There’s even a copy of the viral “Charlie bit my finger” clip. Other material related to conspiracy theories, including PDF files about the Illuminati, were found.

The CIA points out that some of the discoveries, such as anything related to national security, have not been made public. The malware and pornography that were apparently found have also been kept private.

Here’s a list of some of the copyrighted material that's being withheld from the public:

  • Antz
  • Batman Gotham Knight
  • BBC Great Wildlife Moments
  • Biography – Osama bin Laden
  • Cars
  • Chicken Little
  • CNN Presents: World’s Most Wanted
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Heroes of Tomorrow
  • Home on the Range
  • Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
  • In the Footsteps of bin Laden – CNN
  • National Geographic: Kung Fu Killers
  • National Geographic: Inside the Green Berets
  • National Geographic: Predators at War
  • National Geographic: World’s Worst Venom
  • Peru Civilization
  • Resident Evil
  • Storm Rider – Clash of the Evils
  • The Kremlin from Inside (a documentary recorded from Al Jazeera)
  • The Story of India
  • The Three Musketeers
  • Where in the World is Osama bin Laden

The CIA warns that despite it shifting through the content, some "offensive and/or emotionally disturbing" material might remain. It could also contain malware that the agency missed. With that in mind, you can check out Bin Laden’s digital stash here.

So it turns out that Bin Laden was actually a human being.... despite the propaganda campaign making him into some sort of evil demon....

Turns out even really evil people still have "normal" interests... it's not like he was beheading american babies during ALL of his free time!

When you're identity primarily centers around masterminding terror attacks that kill thousands, it tends to overshadow any "normal" interests that make him a "human being". His portrayal in the media was earned like many others who are supposedly "demonized".

I’m not defending him - his identity and final ending were richly deserved.

But I’m kind of surprised that other people are shocked that his HD would have “normal” stuff on it...

Just because someone does terrible things, doesn’t mean they might not like to watch movies like the rest of us... or play video games, etc...

This is hardly a surprise. Even the most evil people look 'normal' do 'normal' things and more often than not, act 'normal'. Nobody would recognise or suspect a serial killer even if they were standing talking with them face to face, unless their mugshots were plastered all over the show. Psychopaths look like and act like every other 'normal' person in existence... most of the time.

All monsters are human. It seems obvious, but most people focus purely on marketing.

To acknowledge that Bin Laden and even the likes of Adolf Hitler are still human beings is even more terrifying than the image of the monsters that we portray. It's begs the question - who else is capable of the monstrous things that they did?

To call them normal human beings is a bit of a stretch though.

Wrong question.

What drives a human to become a monster?

That's what's important.

I find this rather interesting in that it means he was a hypocrite. He professed to believe in Sharia Law, however, I highly doubt that this material is consistent with what is allowed by Sharia Law.

Also, since he had this stuff, it would be interesting to know if he ever used any of it. If he did, he was even a bigger hypocrite as the material arises from elements that have origins in western society, although, he professed to hate western society.

Yes, definitely human, and the world is definitely a better place without him, IMO. He was not even walking his own talk.

Funding and partially orchestrating the greatest terror attack ever on US soil wasn't enough motivation to catch him. But once he got on the MPAA's radar, it was only a matter of time.

Drop two sky scrapers and kill thousands of people... We'll bomb out everything around you. And then some.

Pirate a blockbuster film... You'll be pushing daisies within a week.

it doesn't matter actually. according to islam, if you die while fighting the infidels all your sins are forgiven and you're given a free ticket to heaven. that's why many of the terrorists indulge in all kinds of depravities before they act. once they know all their sins will be forgiven, they no longer care about any restrictions.

What I find most troubling about this is that people just straight up believe it. Its what I fear most about the digital world, the ability to smear anyones image with a mouse click. I am not saying that his stash is fake, but the possibility is there. We have been lied to multiple times when it came to his burial or his execution for example. They're also known for using stuff like this to steer public opinion.

Its a neat joke.

Who funded them is another.

So if he had killed himself, being himself an infidel, his sins would have been forgiven. By this kind of reasoning, anyone who died fighting him would have instantly gone to heaven since he was an infidel.

Somehow, I think this is a skewed interpretation of islamic law. I'm not an expert, but this kind of reasoning is circular in nature and most likely, at least as I see it, a creation of humans that have no clue of how to ascend to higher planes. To me, it sounds like another perversion of one of the world's religions by power hungry humans.

We already know bin Laden was rich. It would not be much of a stretch to conclude that at least some of the funding came from him.
He was funded by the Saudis.... who are indirectly funded by the US.... hence the irony...

He was trained to fight in Afghanistan - FOR the US against the Russians back in the 80s... There are reasons why it's really dumb to fund terrorists - even if you think they're on your side...

Bin Laden was dead by the end of 2001. So, that makes something amiss with this article.

So many naive people here, believeing Osama was killed or the actual "orchestrator of the 9/11 " lmao.

CIA trained him, then made a public figure scapegoat for their own agenda. He was never really wanted by them, just a pawn in their large scheme and when that part of the agenda was finished, got rid of him out of the public eye.
