CID Virus - Not Computer Savvy, need help!

Hello, my computer recently got hit with this "CID" virus which, luckily, is apparently something that many people have had before me. I have gone to forums and tried to follow the directions to get rid of it but for someone who is not computer savvy at all I have a hard time following the instructions. I downloaded HiJackThis because some other help sites told me to do so and I have the "log" saved on my computer but after that...not sure what to do with it. This virus is slowing my computer down immensely and the pop-up's are getting old, quickly. If someone could give me "dumbed down" instructions for how to fix this problem I would really, really, really appreciate it! I just have no idea what to do or how to do it! Thank you so much.
