Compaq Recovery CD Not Working

I have a Compaq Presario 5333CL with 1.8ghz, 76Gig HD, and 256 RAM. The Boot order is CD ROM, Floppy, Hard Drive. The hard drive had 2 partitions which were corrupted and have been deleted, the partions have been fdisk'ed. It originally came with Windows XP Home Edition installed on the c:\ drive and I'm trying to run the Compaq Recovery CD to install the OS again but when the CD boots, it comes up with a DOS screen "Starting windows 98" which it's setting up a RAMdrive but then it immediately comes to a RED Screen stating "Please Contact a Compaq Technician" and hangs. If I hit the "ENTER" key it automatically reboots and repeats the same process. I did contact a Compaq Technician but they did not have any new information other than what I already did. Please Help.

You probably deleted the 2nd partition which the recovery CD uses to reinstall everything. It sounds like you will need to get a legal copy of XP or some other operating system and install it that way.
