Computer crashes when playing any game

When It crashes both of my monitors disconnect. It only started doing this recently.

My computer has an intel i-7 processor with 6GB of ram at 1066 1GB geforce 240 gts

What do you mean by crash? You get a BSoD? Or the game just quits? I would run an antivirus check just in case.

no BSoD. both screens just disconnect and the computer won't respond.

I did a complete virus scan. it found nothing.

I suggest doing the following...

1. Go to our Download section and click on Utilities and then download Driver Sweeper 3.1 to your desktop screen and install.

2. Download the latest diver(s) for your video card but don't install them.

3. Uninstall your video card drivers and reboot your PC into Safe Mode. Run Driver
Sweeper and remove ONLY the video card drivers. If it doesn't find any video card drivers that is quite okay; just leave all other drivers alone.

4. Reboot and install new video card drivers.

Did that and It still does the same thing.

Do you think that the video card might just need replacing?

I don't think the GPU is the fault. What games have you played that have this "bug?"

need for speed hot pursuit (the one that came out last year). battlefield bad company two. I tried an older one too. age of empires 3. They all crash after about 5 minutes every time.

Try checking your GPU temperatures using something like HWMonitor. It may be that your GPU is overheating, which is causing the crashes.
