"couldn t open drive multi 0 disk 0 rdisk 0 partition 1" error

OK my computer had recently been restarting on me and it kept doing this but i just persisted with out trying to solve the problem.

and a few days ago it restarted and when i boot up i eventually get this error:

"couldn t open drive multi 0 disk 0 rdisk 0 partition 1"

now i have tried new RAM which i was told by somebody on another forum, but this didnt solve the problem.

I have also formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows on a different computer and tested that was running fine (which it is) so i presume it is not a hard drive issue.


Extra info, i am running a Intel Dual Core ?3?ghz processor, 1 gb of ram, master 80gb ide, slave sata 200gb

Get speedfan and check put the S.M.A.R.T. characteristics of your hard drive.

Speedfan can be found in the downloads section here on TS.

Speedfan - download and run from http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php.
Set SMART in the BIOS: Speedfan will also run the SMART monitor for you.
Do you by any chance have a RAID array here?

ok i've overcome this problem and now when i log on the windows bar on the bottom of the screen that just continually shows the loading logo thing (egg timer) but in safe mode it is working.
