Dban - dariks boot and nuke

i have just recently heard of dban ( dariks boot and nuke).im wondering if dban's autonuke good to use on my old hard drive. i dont use this hard drive anymore but im thinking of erasing everything on this hard drive and just use it for more space in my computer. i just want to know if this program really works. and if not, id like some recommendations of good programs that will do the job of erasing everything.

You could always just Format it?

formatting will not remove all data, dban is good, also try wipedrive it is freeware and writes all zeros to the drive.
