Desktop icons II

Another question about the desktop icons. If I right click on the desktop, then go to "new", I get a choice of "folder" or "shortcut". What I want to do is make one icon for several game icons that are cluttering my desktop. Should I use "folder" or "shortcut" to do this and why?

Choose "Folder",name it "Game icons that are cluttering my desktop" ,

then cut and paste the icons into it.
