directx problems please help fast

I am having trouble running games because of directx. When i run the DXDiag and then go to display i test the Direct3d the first test with the spinning microsoft box works but when i go to do the next one it says "Direct3d 8 test results: Failure at step 6 (No hardware supported display modes found): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure)

and then i go to the last test and it says: "Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 6 (No hardware supported display modes found): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure).

i really need help soon please.

To help you troubleshoot your problem we need some more information.
What is the name of your graphics card? And what driver version are you using?

Were you able to run DX games earlier and it just suddenly stopped? If yes, did you do anything special just before it stopped working?


It sounds like you've got a very old graphics card, or a problem with the graphic cards drivers. So post back, and hopefully we can help you solve the problem.
