DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND CONTINUE...help

um I just built a pc 4 my friend and i need help...uh i got through boot and then i gotta error message sayin DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND CONTINUE. i hav an xp disk and i put it in and it still showed error and then i put in my mobo driver disk and it still showed same thing. I n33d help uh plz give aall the advice u can. thx

p.s. it dont hav an fdd
 
always include a floppy drive in built computers. They're required for legacy issues like BIOS updates. Besides - they're cheap.

no, my cd isnt scratched, and i used quick format on my hd (would that mean it isnt completely formatted) and also i'm on a very tight budget so i couldnt afford an fdd
 
Well, a FDD costs 8-9 dlls...

But they´re mostly crap.

Do you have access to another Xp cd?
 
Have you checked the bios and made sure that FDD is not first boot device and set the CD Rom as first boot device?
 
If the os has been installed then you need to enter bios and put your primary hard drive (ide0) as first boot device.
