Ecc/non-ecc question

I know you're supposed to match memory as much as possible. I ordered a 128Mb stick of PC100 memory using websites memory configurator (won't say which one!) They sent me a stick of ecc memory. But my computer has a stick of non-ecc in it. Am i right in thinking that this won't work?

For most modern system, no.. It will not work.

Some older computers actually supported ECC and could use ECC with non-ECC in tandem

That may be true for older Dell PCs, but Dell laptops that used SDRAM and the preceding EDO type were strictly Non-ECC
