Hello there.

My friend is experiencing a problem when installing Windows XP. First he boots from the CD, formats the partiton, and then when the installation reboots, and is about to continue with the second phase, he gets a BSoD ("Blue Screen of Death"). I'm not sure why it happens, but anyway... Here is a picture of the screen. What does it mean? What should he try?

Thanks in advance!

This is most likely a problem with your friends RAM. I would start by doing a RAM diagnostic (many free tools on the net) or replace with known good RAM and try again.

use memtest 86+ booted from a real floppy or CD rom to check. Run for at least 7 passes.

incase all the ram tests pass at time the ramiis still bad , remove one module and then try, uninstall any drivers u installed lately and try system restore from command prompt
