GeForce RTX 2070 Super vs. Radeon RX 5700 XT: 37 Game Benchmark

The 2070s, and even the 2060s would be the way to go!
Even if you're only getting +100fps instead of +120fps, you're most likely not going to notice.
What you will notice However, is how low the framerates drop, once you add Ray Tracing in the mix!
While a 2060/2070 will still have smooth framerates, the 5700 will barely be playable!

That, and the fact that if you game a lot, you're better off with an RTX card. The electric cost is a lot lower, and can be further lowered through optimizations, which also means less heat generated.
I dont care about ray tracing at all, and there are tutorials on how to undervolt and overclock the rx 5700 xt at the same time

I have a mini itx rx 560 and I managed to get a stable 10% overclock on a low quality psu (I might try 25% someday)

I game exclusively on PC, but I don't understand why people that play games like Forza 4, Battlefield, Fortnite and COD don't just play it on console, save yourself wads of cash, and play on a large screen 4K TV with surround sound? Just about every game tested here is as good or better to play on console (not just graphics, ease of gameplay, compatibility, no cheaters, etc).

The data says, if you have exactly same rig (9900k with 3400 low latency DDR4), you can have 60 fps and more in every game except a couple. If 2070s performs better than 5700xt in 4k than in 2k, then 2070s will probably last longer and you will receive better gameplay experience with this card. The question is how much longer, if we keep next-gen consoles in mind.

But when you spend $400 for a GPU, you can't buy the 2070s. It's not even the question. If you have money for 2070s and you want it now, then go grab it. The question is how your new card will perform in your own rig. Your own fps numbers will be different, if you have a $200 CPU and just regular RAM. Lower 1% lows are expected at least.

I think 5700xt and 2070s are great products for those who can afford them and put them in a reasonable rig. 2070s is about the same as 1080ti, but cost $200 less. 5700xt costs the same as 2060s but is faster overall.

If we look a bit futher, there's probably another top-tier AMD product ahead, but it will be aimed to replace Radeon VII. I mean there's nothing new to expect at the $500 price point, probably.

If you wish to pay a little bit less and get a little bit more (eg, 2070s for $450), you usually wait a couple of months, or wait for a sale.

As for prices, cheap it is or not. Remember, eg 5-6-7-8 years ago pricing and add inflation. What was $400-ish now is around $450. So I think it's fair to say that these cards are priced reasonably well.

I think the performance / $ graphs are completely misleading. You are trying to paint the 5700xt as the better card by putting too much emphasis on performance / $$, a thing you didn't' do in other reviews.

I mean, is it a surprise that there isn't a 1 to 1 ratio between performance and price? Isn't that the normal? As far as I remember, the RX 470 was a better value than the RX480, the 570 better than the 580, the V56 was a better value than the V64 etc. The same applies to the CPU's as well, with lower end models being better value than higher end ones. If I remember correctly your own review back in the day showed the 1400 as the best R5 cpu when it comes to price / performance. So freaking what? It's completely normal, lower performing parts have better value.

I think the 2070S's price is perfectly fine. I could even argue, based on the 5700xt's price, it's actually cheap. It is what, 20% more expensive? Look at it this way, if 2070S was actually an AMD card named 5800xt, and with the current 5700xt pricing, how much would AMD actually charge for that card, considering it also has RT and DLSS? Im sure no less than 20% over the 5700xt.

Also, you have to consider that the 2070S has way more OC headroom, so the performance difference actually grows when both are oced and it is around 12-15%. Add to that , as far as im aware, it's easier and simpler to OC it thnx to OC scanner, I actually think it's a no brainer at this point. Also, from other reviews, due to that OC headroom, the 2060S is actually closer to the 5700xt. Can you bench all 3 of them OCed and shed some light to the matter?

What on earth are you on about? First Person Shooters have always been better on PC? PC supports 4k and surround sound?.... Oh, you were trolling... I bit... Damn it!

The reviews here of the 5700XT and 2060 Super show that they OC by 10% and 11% respectively, so no, the 2060s will not catch up to the 5700XT. And the 2070 Super only OC'd by 5%, so that argues that the 5700XT will catch up to the 2070s a bit.

The 5700XT is simply the better value product while the 2070 Super is higher performing, and you've always needed to pay a noticeable chunk of extra cash for that performance improvement.

(((((FidelityFX effects are easy to integrate – all that’s needed is to #include the provided header files and use appropriate functions in your shader code))))

So easy AMD won't do it unless enough gamers demand it (DX11 support)...

Being the better value product simply means you are slower. We are talking about performance / high end cards here, better value is meaningless. If someone wants better value he goes for the 570, which im pretty sure wipes the floor in terms of value with both of them. In the high end 1% of performance causes a >1% increase of price

Plus we have to take into account RT, which looks amazing in control btw.

I'd buy the 2070s simply because I don't trust AMD hardware. I've owned three AMD GPUs. The first one,. Radeon 9800 Pro back in the day doesn't even count because that was ATI back then. The other two? Went up in smoke inside my rig.

The moral of the story is you get what you pay for. 5700xt at $400 sounds tasty but then you got AMD saying it's okay if the thing runs at 110c. Yeeeaaaa no. Gtfo AMD.
That is at the junction point not the edge like what you get from Nvidia. Nvidia don't show this because of people that do not understand this.

Forza is primarily a played on console, it just works well on PC too. As for the rest, COD is very popular on consoles, but as you know, FPS games are best played on PC and none of these games require you to have a high end system.

When Cyberpunk 2077 will feature the same Reflections and Transparent Reflections like Control there is really no point buying 5700XT just because it has slightly better price/performance. 100usd is like 1 night of eating out. I save like 10.000usd a year staying home playing games with friends rather going out and get drunk every couple of days lol.

You are talking as if going out and getting drunk several times a week is normal. And you don't save 10k every year by not going out, that would some very expensive "beer". At most you save 2K if you don't take into account your expenses when you have friends at home.

Having higher FPS is more preferable than getting a few extra reflections at the cost of a huge FPS drop. And from how CP 2077 looks and what we've seen so far, it won't be a game that will be easy to run at high FPS even without ray-tracing. At most it will be used to get some cool screenshots.

On the spot..

Sad to see kids wasting money so much nowadays.

A few frames lead does not relate to real-life difference of perception. All look similar.

Amazing how the 5700XT came out of nowhere and crushed Nvidia's arrogance.

Just received my Sapphire Pulse 5700 XT today. I was a Nvidia flagship buyer every gen till Maxwell. After that, I couldn't stomach the exorbitant arrogant pricing of Nvidia.

Edit: Real men don't get drunk even if drink everyday. The rest who get drunk are those new teens experiencing alcohol for the first time. Anyways, drink responsibly.

Edit2: And those who are championing the 2080Ti, come back and talk to me if the super expensive abomination can play all the current games at 4K with every setting set to Max with the MINIMUM FPS at 60fps. Otherwise, it IS a waste of money.

I expect nothing but butter smooth performance with 2080Ti with AT LEAST 60fps MINIMUM Roth ALL settings maxed out at 4K, for Nvidia's absurd, illogical, wasteful asking price.

You guys do know that if the minimum fps drops below 60fps, you can see the irritating stutters, right????

Lol I have been wasting money on hardware since 2003 and will gladly do so for the next foreseeable future. Worry about FPS ? just buy the 2080 Ti. Budget gamer ? buy the RX 570.
Really for the tiny tiny better price to performance of the 5700XT you are missing out plenty of good looking RTX games for the next 2 years. If Control is any indication of RTX performance drop, you would only lose like 20% performance enabling Reflection and Transparent Reflections in Cyberpunk 2077 but it would make the game feel entirely
different.

I wonder you guys stop and look at the graphics, which you can see when you open your eyes and look around or enjoy playing?

If you look around, you get fragged.

Gaming is not just about graphics. But the GAMEPLAY.

RTX is just a marketing technique by Nvidia to survive, especially after AMD's new recent products, by looting from you guys.

Be vigilant and wise before making a purchase.

Really I haven't played any single player game at any setting lower than ultra for as long as I remember lol. Just buy the best GPU out there, install game, set to max settings and play, there is no fidgeting with the graphical settings to get more FPS. I would rather spend time overclocking my GPU than finding the best graphic settings.
For games such as the Witcher 3, spending 1000usd to get the best playing experiences were really worth it. Hopefully it will stand true for Cyberpunk 2077.

Seeing that on average the 5700XT is around $185 cheaper Im not so sure the 2070 Super is all that appealing @ 1080 and 1440 P.

Probably because its about $100 cheaper. But the only reason to get the 2070 super is availability right now and RTX if you care about that.

First off you don't need 1k$ and second the difference between Ultra and High is not going to be visible without screenshots and zooming in in most games.
If you want to play at 4K at ultra then yes, 700$ or more is your only option for playable FPS, but otherwise just buy a mid range GPU and play at 1440p. It's what everybody does.

Gameplay over all others.....agreed! Playable frames and I'm sold. I'd advise anyone out there to look at the indie sector and small dev teams doing big things than the same ol' AAA title from a bloated company that needs your money to stay afloat.

Not sure I understand your grammar here as your use of question marks is 'questionable', but I will bite too. What the h*ll are YOU talking about? Do you seriously not understand my point? How much does it cost to game at 4K on PC? Now how much on console? Do you still need more explanation?

Agree with your first point, so RTX on with High settings should be the default option that give you both the immersion and smooth FPS. Something you don't get to choose with 5700 XT.
Secondly I play at 3440x1440 120hz (Acer X34P) which is quite nice and manageable with 2080 Ti, 4K 27in monitors are too small for its resolution. Looking to buy the Asus PG35VQ next.
All in all you only pay ~70usd for the RTX tax (14% lower price/performance) which net you some nice immersion that you would never get with 5700XT. And if price/perf is your only concern then there are better options out there since 5700XT offer nothing new anyways.

you don't get to chose medium/high settings with rtx on. the only thing you can do is render at a lower resolution and then apply a sharpening filter.
as for your 14% tax that's just a load of bs that all benchmarks have disproven. if it was that light on recourses it wouldn't have become a meme, something ppl make fun of.

Let's be honest here, Nvidia is beta testing rtx and you get the pleasure of buying the first gen rtx just so you can sell it to buy the second gen.
