Gigabyte: Intel Z490 motherboards will support 11th-gen Core Rocket Lake CPUs

Its cheap is you take into consideration the OVERAL performance that chip has, in many tasks it outperforms the $999 Core i9 10980XE. I am not saying that $700 is not a lot of money because it is : - )
You mean Cascade Lake X that does not seem to be very available in the US ? Newegg has a 10980XE listed for $ 2,999, the other models are not available.

Amazon has the Core i9-10920X (12C) in stock for $ 879, down from $ 1,168.

Kind of proved his point for him.... at $3,000, the 10980XE is more expensive than all but the highest end Threadripper CPUs.... And even the 3960 completely destroys it except, marginally, in games (and we're talking practically a tie) - and if you're buying one of those for gaming, you're either insane, or have too much money to burn.

That was my point. Intel’s hedt chips seem to mostly exist on paper - same for their list prices so they can show up for comparisons.

If you look at Techspot’s review, they are only a few fps ahead in games while losing badly to the non-hedt 3950x in pretty much all other tests.

And if you factor in the platform cost, it looks even worse.

So your point and his point were the same.... yet you felt the need to argue? Ok then...

As into the futur e. there will be faster tec like cpu gpu chipset and 16nm-8nm stuff. now the amd 5000 gpu arrived and the amd 6xxx gpu runs fine in pcie 4.0.
more cores more lanes and so on.

benchmarks getting higher and we must buy better and better stuff. this has benn just like this from 1 st sx 386 cpu to p4 and so on.

amd gets a nice cpu gpu intel comes back with better faster ans o it goes on. now welcome intels new gpu too. if windows 10 could change how cpu gpu memory behaves then we just read about it buy it and then run benchmarks and do a o.c on a allready o.c cpu gpu ram and chipsest jus too (brag) a little more. https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/36098418

https://www.techspot.com/community/...cket-for-alder-lake-cpus.263510/#post-1855517 it will be 1 st a pcie 4.0 then later they will activate pcie 5.0 (if lucky).
and for gaming you cant run as low as you want too. some games dont run on a pcie 1.0 2.0 3.0 as good as pcie 4.0 can do. 1gb low end gpu not many games supported.
2 -6 gb some games but running out of vram.
8-24 you can run nicely 1k-8k but 8 gb can run out of vram.
so even with pcie 5.0 the bandwidt are to little used in games. cad adobe rendering may take up all ram but you getting don in ohrs and not days months.
unigine uneral engine 4.5 5.0 may take much vram on new cards.
if I could predict the future I would be nostreadmous.
just wai wai wait wait 4k 8k I.t and see a movie.

every string can be broken and fixed on a giutar,
but break a bone on a human it would be there forever. teatres has a break a leg but what does a nørd in word to say ?
