GPU Mining Is Dead, Where Are My Cheap GPUs?

I would imagine these cards will start to fall, probably dramatically but that will be governed by the market. Used cards should start to show up on eBay soon...

There will be no price drop in the use of 300XX series or AMD GPUs. Whatever marketplace you remember is now gone, there are too many thieves who bought those GPU's and too many of those thieves are selling them.

I'm starting to doubt the accuracy of this article. There's no way that the 3060 Ti and 3060 are still selling for more than MRSP when, 1. 40 series was announced and 2. Miners are not buying anymore, so gamers and video editors are the only demand for GPUs. Unless this article is only tracking NEW 30 series cards then maybe this makes sense, but I would never pay over msrp for a used 3060 Ti that a miner has had for 2 years already.

Yes indeed, where are the cheap cards. We are still getting ripped here in Europe. I'm not paying 500 plus Euro for a 2 year old card that is shortly about to be made obsolete. 500 for a 6700xt lol , 700 plus for a 3070. The GPU manufacturers greed is coming back to bit them.

Why would GPU mining be dead? Etherium moved from POW to POS because it's ecosystem was not sustainable. Despite what they say. I have been mining for about 5 years and I do not know any other miners who actually mined etherium. I didn't mine it. None of the online communities I used mined it. The DAG was too big and the difficulty was too high. Despite the mass of lies that were spread card shortages were never caused by miners. There was no surveys "did you guys by new cards or use old". Miners use what is cost effective and the 30 series wasn't. Do you know why? Natural disasters and wars destroyed factories, causing silicon shortages. Then scalpers bought what little was made during COVID and drove up the prices. Nothing more nothing less there was no significant increase in new mining purchases anywhere. Prices are dropping as supply is easing. Last 24 months there were shortages of playstations, phones, Xboxes and televisions, was this also miners? No you didn't try to blame them because it sounded stupid as the tech was unrelated. But the things you could pin on them you took a wide swing and people love having someone to hate. So me ill keep mining on my rx460 and rx560 because the amount of machines mining today is exactly the same as it was 5 weeks ago. Take a good look, those who were on eth are somewhere else. Nothing changed. So if the prices are dropping it serves as further evidence there was no connection.

Does it look to you that people here care about this?
You opened an account just to say this?
This is no Coin forum FFS.
The article is talking about GPU mining being dead and it affecting pricing. The comment was relevant. You don't care? Yet you cared enough to comment on his comment. Did it anger you that the article is wrong? Because it is, that's why his comment matters. Now if you don't have anything relevant to say (like the person you snapped at did) maybe you shouldn't comment.

It's not an issue. Miners typically avoided the 30 series. If you were part of the community you would know that. They were too expensive for the hash they offered. In Asia where they got them cheap they will have been used. But in the west where the scalpers were driving up prices due to the silicon shortages. If you buy a gigabyte or Asus ROG card there is very little chance that a miner will have touched, they just cost too much and were not profitable.

That being said. Now that there exactly the same amount of mining, but people are pretending the eth merge changed that. They can't blame the miners any more so the price of new will drop anyway. well it better.

Navi 31, 32 and 33 are coming. All of them are smaller cheaper dies to make than nVidia's counterparts...

The GPU industry is guided by DIE SIZE.... and wafer yields. AMD has nVidia beat this round, specially at the high-end...!

WHOA WHOA WHOA! I was and am part of the community and 30 series are the most used cards by miners. Yeah sure, some miners used rx 580 rigs, but majority are on 30 series. I don't even know if you're joking or not. (Edit: I see so you are on GPUs from the first crypto boom)
Dude what is your 2nd paragraph even saying? The amount of mining is NOT staying the same. It's going down. What do you mean "people are pretending the eth merge changed that." Many miners turned off their rigs after the merge and are going to sell off in a month. You really think the amount of mining is going to stay the same when people are making $2.5 a day on ergo, rvn, etc with quadruple or more the hashrate that they would have needed to get the same money with ethereum? What do you mean blame the miners? It was the miners fault that the prices were so inflated. Anyways I assume you're one of those people that don't know what they're talking about but have hugely mega thick skin so they just say whatever they think.

The difficulty was too high for you because you were using RX 400 series cards... Most miners mined Ethereum because they bought 30 series cards. You were probably in the "2017 mining" group. Considering that you said you mined for 5 years, you probably kept those cards since mining in the first crypto boom.

An easier way to put it, is that most of the people who bought RTX30 cards, didn't do it for gaming.... that is why nVidia themselves were selling pallets of GPUs out their backdoor to miners...

Trying to brag about how well Gamers love RTX cards... while being destroyed in gaming by cards costing hundreds less.... and nVidia didn't care because every card had a miners name on it.

If you fell for the mining being a problem for GPU's and paid big prices, ask yourself, why did they not making mining specific cards instead of selling GPU's for gaming, because there never was a shortage, its all staged to suck your money out your pockets by blaming somebody else for the problem they caused in the first place. Mining started in 2013 on a big scale, they took 8yrs to wake up, I don't think so, more like they new suckers would pay through their asses to get a card they don't need, when will people wake up to the game, most games don't need to be played at Full Res with 200Fps at 4k, they are just as much fun at 1080p...ignorance is bliss, while I slept my gaming machine mined, I paid my GPU's off within a year next year I made enough to buy next one, sell old one have cash to upgrade CPU... brains are lacking in the gaming world
