GPU Pricing Update, May 2022: Buy Now or Wait for Next-Gen?

Wait for AMD 7000 series competition for high end and Intel Ark for low end competition. It is probably the worse time to upgrade now for almost 2 year old architecture.

Thoughts on what Ted Cruz said about energy? Since you hate lies unless you are selective towards one side.
Also wasn't the US selling energy to Europe when we were energy independent?

Cruz is a psycho and lunatic. He couldn't lie straight in bed. Possibly even more corrupt than Chump. No one should give an f#$k what Cruz says.

I got a used 1080 for 300usd more than a year ago and only now prices are dropping below that again… Stopgap measure successful imo…

Thanks to the bonkers situation in the last couple of years I have come to appreciate my 2070 Super (Paid £400 before the world went mental) more and more and realise it runs everything I want it to just fine and thanks to the warranty ending the fan shroud went in the bin many moons ago and it has 2x 120mm fans just zip tied on it and the silence is wonderful, I certainly enjoy that more than I would 50 gazillion FPS.

Thats the whole point of my complaint.

His personal preference made him (or whoever wrote the episode), spew misinformation and doing a dis-service to potential buyers looking for guidance and information.

I mean, just look at the stupid thumbnail for f*cks sake.

Hardware Unboxed has been more than charitable towards AMD GPUs over time.

You're just trying way too hard to find things to be upset about.

I'm not sure why you're so against the AMD GPU refresh. 5% performance increase is 5% increase any way you put it and right now you can get a high end verison of the XR 6750 XT for $550 which will out perform anything nivida has for that price so I don't really get the hate. Let's face the truth. Nivida's GPUs are the one that are way over priced right now. It's pretty ridiculous actually and the reality of ray tracing is you have to pay $1,000 if you want a more accurate reflection in a puddle and guaranteed 60 fps I mean is that really worth it? Maybe to some it is but personally I think at this point ray tracing is a bit overrated. That could change with the unreal engine 5 but then again considering the tech for unreal its also something that can and probably will shine on AMDs cards due to consoles also being RDNA 2. Personally I am not a fan boy of either company but the facts are as clear as day to anyone who doesn't want to spend a grand on a video card.

What a joke.. PC gaming is dying as it is and these fools aren’t helping. It's been 10 years since Epic released those demos (the one with the bearded guy and the other I think Infiltrator) and games still dont look like that in real time. I barely touch my pc anymore especially with the **** quality games being released the last two years. Most of the nicer games are on the consoles.

The US has never been 'Energy Independent' in its entire history. They will (and do) buy oil from anyone. Russia, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia...anyone who will sell it to them. Trump, Cruz etc. are all liars.

Exactly!

People like Tim, all the fakers at LTT and others, needs to be more responsible with the data they are presenting.

You cant let personal preferences over ride your judgment and how you conduct and express yourself to others that are looking at your presentation for guidance and information.

I am extremely dissapointed with this video.
Clicks and comments mean money for them. It really is that simple. The more 'edgy' and 'controversial' the better.

Seeing that second-hand cards are being mentioned in nearly every review article. When are we going to get reviews of the competing second-hand cards?

I recently picked up a pair of EVGA's GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra 12GB cards. They're replacing my aging TITAN X GPUs and should last a good while.

Just like the last several generations, when the next gen launches, it will be a paper launch. There will be none in stock for 3-6 months. The launch will likely be in the next 4 months. Meaning, if you are looking at buying now, buy now, because the next gen won't be in stock for nearly a year.

If you already have a 3080, 3090 or 3090Ti, I see no reason necessary to upgrade to the 4000 series. These games aren't very demanding.

It only makes sense if you absolutely need it and can afford it - at that point - just go right ahead and upgrade.
It would only be recommended if you game at 8K or need the absolute highest possible FPS, but then again you may end up CPU-limited even with a 12900K or 5800X3D
