Hi, as you can tell by my post count i'm new to this board. i've came to seek help with a problem my Windows ME computer has had for a while.
It seems to only happen in the summer (with the hot weather, usually between June and August). The rest of the year it's fine.
Bassically, i go on the computer, and it could be a matter of minutes or a few hours and the PC freezes, but not like a simple crash, then you can just restart and carry on using it, with this, the PC freezes, i can hear a loud ringing sound coming from the hard drive, and if i restart it (i can only restart but pressing the little restart button on the hard drive because the mouse and keyboard become disabled) when it loads up it freezes again and the same thing happens with the ringing and stuff.
Now, this happened last year as well (i have had the computer since 2001) and so i thought, if it happens again this year, it's probably just a case of overheating, and, it normally happens when my room temperature reaches 26 degrees celcius, but then, i swap over to my brothers computer (XP) and i could be on it for as long as i want and the room temperature could exceed 26 degrees and his PC won't freeze at all.
I don't know if you need this information but: my hard drive is a MESH.
thanks in advance, i'd be greatful if someone could help me out / give me some advice.
