How Far Behind is AMD? DLSS 4.5 vs FSR 4 Tested

Another hit piece on AMD.
Meanwhile Computerbase.de does a blind test on FSR4 vs DLSS4.5 vs Native with vote option on its audience with downloadable HQ videos. I stay tuned for the results which will be there in short.

Many from the Computerbase audience already are asking for an "I dont see the difference" option.

No, but so many people over paid for their nVidia GPUs that they have to justify it somehow so they will say that they can. It reminds me of wine experts but every blind test of wine experts has shown that they have no idea what the **** they're talking about. We have "experts" telling people that there is a noticeable difference in quality and the masses just take their word at face value then argue about it in the comments section.

Ok....but were not using DLSS 2 anymore. See, progress happens. AMD isnt improving FSR in a vacuum against a stationary target.
 
7900XT user here. I use XeSS in online games since AMD refuses to make FSR 4 scaling available to the large number of RDNA 2 and 3 users. FG isn’t a high priority to me. But since FSR 4 is much better than FSR 3, AMD needs to support its customers
 
Why no love for handheld via fsr 4.0? I wonder what would gamers want Nvidia apu via dlss 4.5 ultra performance or fsr 3.5 current AMD's lineup?
 
Remember when Techspot was doing price point recommendations and said " the 9070XT over the 5070Ti all day"? I had to put down my ice cold Sam Adams and laugh at my screen. To get the best, feature rich most enjoyable gaming/ray tracing experience possible, the 5070Ti is the better option all day. I own one and its basically 5080 performance with a tiny overclock. There are STILL countless reports of 9070XTs and similar Radeons STILL experiencing stuttering.

As far as the review good work Tim, you can clearly see a difference in many of those screenshots. Anyone who cannot isn't an enthusiast, or their little feelings got hurt. ICE ICE BABY

Good luck finding a 5070Ti or 9070XT at MSRP these days...

Not in real time no, but that's because most of us don't stop in the middle of a game
to stare at a window on a building and put a magnifying glass up to the screen.

But, if anyone considers doing that stuff and call it entertainment
then what the hell, why not?

You can use Optiscaler. Already works for most games. Played with it a few games , had no problems. (albeit I only used DLSS to FSR4 conversion and no frame gen, with my 9070XT)
 
I don't recall the last time I played ANY game and stopped to stare at the screen. Much less blow it up to 10x magnification to enjoy the detail.
You don't need magnification to see clearly better Ray Tracing performance.
One is a superior choice, and its price and popularity reflect it.

As others have said FSR4 is pretty good now and very difficult to see differences between the two in moving images so that's no problem. What is a problem though is support. FSR4 is currently supported in about 90 games. DLSS4 is available for over 250 and the gap between the two seems to be widening all the time, not narrowing.
 
I feel we are starting to gravitate away from the original intent of such upscaling technology, and nitpicking on image quality. Be it DLSS, FSR and XESS, we have come to a point where image quality is good enough then running a game at low native resolution. It's not perfect, but I think it is pretty decent now. Any image quality improvement will come with performance trade offs since it requires more processing power. There needs to be a balance.
 
I think that while the article is scientifically correct, it doesn't add much value to the shopper. In the end I have one gpu and I game on it, not staring at the screen.

Something like an unbiased average gamer opinion that games on both gpus separately (not side by side) will be much appreciated.

For myself, I bought 9070xt which was 35 percent lower price then the 5070 ti in my country. I think I did a pretty good deal

It has become the equivalent of "pixel peeping" that once existed in digital camera world.. where one zooms in incredibly small to pick even the smallest difference in pixel rendering for different camera sensors/brands... multiple publications and blogs/etc spent hundreds of hours studying the differences, when 99% of the rest of the world just looks at the final taken photo at normal size and goes "that's a beautiful photo", or "man that looks sh**".

Anyhow, while I generally realise the silliness of it all, I do realise there is a lot of science, knowledge, and dedication in these sorts of articles, and those that put them together... which makes good reading if nothing else.

I do think it is important that people realize that upscaling is a bandaid solution that 1)allows hardware makers to sell us less for more money and 2)is being used developers not to improve performance, but spend less money on optimization. If upscaling support in a game is an advertised feature it is an immediate red flag.

So instead of us trying to actually address the real problem of why upscaling is necessary, we throw **** at each other and argue about my company is better than your company.

It's boiling frog and slippery slope, and it's been happening in every facet of or lives and no one learns.

We're being screwed in everything and all we choose to do is yell at Internet strangers/bots while the ruling parasites laugh on their yachts and shape ships and islands.

We shouldn't use any upscaling except for very old hardware (which isn't even supporting upscaling without modder/hacker intervention)
