HP / Dell / etc. laptop password help thread

<_< School closed down long ago dear.

can't believe your story and the device still has 160 days of warranty left.
if really nobody wants the device back then you have to deal with dell first and claim ownership. we will not help you to enter the installed system and retrieve data which you probably should not be able to see - this is illegal.
once you are the legal owner of the laptop you have warranty and get your password(s) directly from dell. its your choice...

If you are able to boot from anything, use dst software.
If not, read pdf from Fastback68 and use paperclip procedure.

I may be posting in the wrong place and If I am I am sorry. I am trying to get hooked up with Rustam_ about a password for a dell latitude CPi A series laptop that I am trying to fix for a friend. The hard drive died and I got one from ebay and installed it and got the page asking for the password.Where it has the hard drive # it is xxxxxxxxx-595B so not sure of the true number.Service tag # is MMK8Z and the express service code is 548-003-87. Thanks for any help possible. I have tried alot of suggestions found on your site with no luck. Thanks much.

After 2 days of trying different passwords generated by latitude.exe and trying the dst software still no luck.I can enter the bios if I pop the hdd out and reset the service tag # back to it's origional number with no luck so I guess what I am looking for is a hdd unlock password. I have looked through alot of info on the site but just haven't found the right spot yet.any help is greatly appreciated. The owner of the computer says to just give up and throw it away but I hate being defeated.

The point is to come on this forum in search of ways to do things ourselves if I wanted to pay I would google the service "paying" is only a last resort in my opinion so reading the forum thread if your willing to pay is somewhat pointless. They provide the method in which to do it yourself and in some cases in rare instances people will do it for you by providing the Pass you need. Unfortunately i havent had such luck as no one has responded to my post as of yet I will keep checking :\

LazYurix and all others, Dell will remove the password within 24 Hrs, at under $50 (and over the phone too)
Actually LazYurix, I think you may be friends with one of the members here who, would rather PM than help online (out in the open)

As your Laptop is presently warrantied there is no need for you to be here, I feel

I bought a HP Omnibook XE3 notebook from a garage sale, but, when I started it, I was presented with an "Enter password:" screen. I Googled around and found that, if you press F12 at this sceen, hash code will show up. And so I did.

Dell Bios password

I have a dell 5100 inspiron laptop that has a password on the bios. As soon as you turn on the laptop, it asks you for a password.

I have been able to get the dell laptop to bring up the fn-x on the screen with the paper clip trick on the eeprom chip. I had trouble to get it as i was holding the paper clip on as i was turning on the laptop, and not turning on the laptop then putting the paper clip in place.

The problem i'm having now it that i hit fn-x and nothing happens. After a few seconds the screen goes back to the bios screen and asks for a password. Do i hold the jumper on as i hit fn-x? Any info would be great. Thanks.
