HP / Dell / etc. laptop password help thread

I tried first option doesn't succeed,
Second option doesn't apply beacasue the boot sequence doesn't start.
The third option is not for d620 because seems like this model has a different protection(the password is in the KBC memory).

Thx anyway for info:).

Hello, the last week, i post an help request, but none help me.
Probably my message had some problem... so i retry to post it.

i have DELL LATITUDE D830.
I need Admin password.

My Info:

dell latitude D830
express service code: 70-029-659-35
system number: 37TDV3J-595B

i hope that anyone can help me... thanks a lot

buddy, you still have 890 days of next business day support left. dell would have helped you within 24hrs. so why do you bother waiting here for one week? nobody will give you a password for free here. at least not under this circumstances...

I tried most of those items not the mother board option and none worked and reading a below post it sounds like once I have the ownership transfered into my name that Dell will not help me without me paying for it. I will have to junk this computer because I can not afford to pay them for the service or rather I should not have too. I purchased a computer that worked and it should work. This password thing seems like dell has a rackett going on. Is there no way I can get a password from anywhere else to get into this darn thing.

same for you. instead of telling stories you should claim ownership which is possible even without knowing the original owner.
on the otherhand who sells a laptop with warranty and password on it? in my eyes somebody who doesn't own but maybe got hands on it (I don't want to say but I think illegal).
anyway, since the message doesn't display the service tag but something different in numbers in letters you should try to run it without the harddisk drive.
if that brings up the same screen somebody must have changed the service tag to what it displays. this would mean something not legal to me.
its up to you to try harder with dell or wait here forever.

what password exactly?
to your questions, buy a password at dells for $49 bucks or from a third party in ebay or somewhere else for 50 to 100 bucks.
you laptop can be shorted easily. If I wouldn't have the money for a password and thinking of throwing the device away there is no risk to try it. whats the chances?
free password removal or throw as already planned. your choice!

Excuse me, maybe i am in wrong. I think that anyone can help me, and i think that my message is in bad format or without any information. I have seen a lot of people that call for help. So now i wait for anyone that can help me. I think that is a forum where anyone help me and i help another one. Thank you really.

robboso75 just contact Dell, here's all that info you need: https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic100658.html

Dell's price is exactly $49 and you can even be outside warranty, and it's done over the phone, or via email.

If you are still warrantied (as you are) then they may even do it for free, especially if you have a hardware fault too. Waiting a week for some sham Russian password help, is crazy.

of course this forum is to help eachother but I really miss your point in looking for help for a laptop that has almost full warranty. from what I can tell you about this place you will not get a free password here because all the guys who would give passwords out for free - even to you - don't have a working password generator. those who have sell their passwords which is not wanted in this forums by the rules.
so, what I was saying is you can
1. wait here forever to retrieve a free password
2. get it from dell within 24hrs to the lowest price available
3. get it from a third party - which you will not find here - for twice the dell price

still your choice...

Dell LATITUDE E5500

Hi, i have a Dell LATITUDE E5500 with a passworded BIOS. Any idea what i could do to get rid of it? The applications provided earlier in this pose don't work for my model. It is also a mode that can't be shorted, so paperclip method falls out of question.

BIOS Password

Hello everyone, im new to this site and this is my first post. I was wondering if i could get some help with my bios password. My son set a password and doesnt recall setting one. I have a Toshiba A200-AH1 running vista basic. Ive already took laptop apart in search of the CMOS battery but i couldnt find one. I found a thread on this site in regards to retrieving the master password using the Hash code.

After several restarts watching for the code, i got Hash code= 10475

Could someone plz retrieve the master code for me, laptop is useless without it.

Ty in advance
Chris

Long story short. My Dell XPS M140 will not let me boot up because of PW protection. I called Dell and gave them my info: Service tag: bwmm291 and Exp service code: 25917504229. I am the original owner with all the correct info, however since my warranty has expired they will not unlock my laptop. Unless I pay them $239.00. Are they serious? Can anyone help me?

The deadly logon screen code is: #bwmm291-595b

Moderator Edit:
Price at Dell is $49 only (without warranty)

Maybe I got transfered to the wrong Dell rep. He told me since my warranty had expired, I needed to purchase an 24/7 extended premium service warranty for about $239.00. How do get my PW for $49.00, because I would pay $49 to save my laptop instead of possibly killing it by shorting the bios?

I hope it doesn't just work for me?
This is not the best thread for me to get a truthful answer though, but the link works for me

Hi all,

I recently purchased a second-hand Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop on which there seems to be a BIOS configuration password i.e. can't change boot order. The only way to boot to cd is to remove the hard-drive.

Initially, I tried to use BIOS software tools on a Hiren's boot cd to reset the password. Having read through some of this thread, as far as I understand, this won't work because the password is stored on the eeprom chip?

Using the following guide and the dell service manual, I tried the paperclip method:
web.archive.org/web/20040429073809/qasimtoep.tripod.com/dell/dell.html
Upon opening the laptop, the chip seems impossible to access on my laptop model, as it is supposedly located beneath the mini-pci slot which is enclosed in additional metal casing.

I've now downloaded dstcd, and made a bootable copy. I have a couple of questions:
Will this work with the Inspiron 4000?
The only option upon bootup is:
Do you want to erase (and/or change) this service tag?
How do I proceed from here, given that I only want to change the bios password rather than change service tag.

Any help would be appreciated and sorry for rambling on!

Service Tag: 657M30J

35 minutes after calling Dell support, (thanks to your link), I now have access to my Dell laptop XPS M140. I can not thank you enough. $49 was well worth the alternative!

Dell Inspirion 6000

I bought two laptops on cl a few days ago without ac adapters, bought a power adapter and found out one has a bios password. #btqm481-595b (dell inspiron 6000 ), the other is an inspiron 1521 ((service tag dpzb6d1) and shows this error "invalid configuration information - please run setup program". I have contacted dell and since I do not have the previous owners information I am stuck. Any ideas?

Hello Paragon33,

If you are able to boot from anything, use dst software.
If not, read pdf from Fastback68 and use paperclip procedure.

Password for files is smellyalater

35 minutes after calling Dell support, (thanks to your link), I now have access to my Dell laptop XPS M140.
Thanks for the update :grinthumb, many members don't reply back saying its resolved. It certainly helped me knowing I may have at least helped one user\member (hopefully lots more)

As for this thread, I'd say half of it is full of spammers and users who just want to sell their private business to others, less fortunate. Note: Every few (4 or 5 posts) there's this big deleted post ! From one of these spammers (no doubt today won't be any different). Can I just mention to all that Do Not Contact Anyone Via Any Email Address Here, your money will go to Russia or somewhere, and will not return, and you will just get the same free information you are receiving here. Truly it's a waste. This thread is number 1 spammer thread on TechSpot for sure.

I do not have the previous owners information am I stuck.?
Dell have helped users (members here) without any past information of ownership details. This has been confirmed. Dell requests that you still fill out the form anyway, they will decide on a case by case scenario. Example: It may have come from your last place of employment, sold to you, but you don't know the specifics of who the previous owner actually was (by individual name) You will not be charged anything, if they feel the unknown has had the laptop lost or stolen. Nor will they take legal action on you, ie they are not the police, and there's just too many resold laptops out there for them to deal with.

Obi, is probably the main support to this thread (I usually just debate with spammers, and try to make things clear for everyone every now and then). Always read and try all free suggestions here first

I took apart the 6000 but the diagram in the fastback.pdf was not suited for it. I had it in pieces earlier lol.

Thanks for the replies already.

Obi,
I download DST from the link you posted and burn the iso to cd, boot the laptop on press F12 to multi boot screen (the previous owner set it to boot from HD first) but it takes me to the HDD password which I cannot go to the bios password if I press F2.
So I took the original hd out and replace with another hd that I have and reboot press F12 and chose the boot option from CD ROM, it take me to the this screen:

System Name: Inspiron 1501
System ID: 0x01f5
BIOS Rev: 2.3

Current Service Tag: xxxxxxx

Do you want to erase (and/or change) this service tag (Y or N) ?
- Either I chose Y or N the screen will tell me
FDD Recalibrate Utility Version 1.1
Failed to move FDD head to track 0
The FDD may not be ready for transport
A:\

I also did download the MasterPW using unlock HD that I have installed winXP earlier and run it on an USB flash drive, when it ask
Enter service tag, HDD serial number, or nothing at all: xxxxxxx-D35B
and it gave me some xxxxxxxx, which I use this number on the Bios screen but no luck.

Is there another method that I don't have to unassembly the laptop to short circuit?

Thank you for your time,
HM
