ZE4600 Bios Password

Hi,

I had a password on a ZE4600 Hp laptop that I I wanted to clear, so I entered the BIOS and tried to clear the password by entering the current password and leaving the new password blank (in 2 fields) by hitting the enter key twice. Next boot it asked for a password! Now I can't get in even using the old password! I did some research before I came to this site, and it appears this happened to a few others on this model as well. Must be a BIOS flaw or something. I suspect pressing the enter key in the blanks registers some keystroke I can't reproduce. Although I've done this on several computers in the past with success, I probably will just leave the new password fields blank without pressing the enter key in the future!!

Anyway, the model is HP ZE4600 and the hash code is 12152

I tried using unlock6, but none of the codes worked for this model.

For anyone interested, to get the hash code on the the ZE4600, you must press F2 and F12 at the same time (must do it before it prompts for a password).

I would appreciate someone generating a password for me, and/or telling me where I can get the proper hash code generator for this model.

Thank you so much!

Once you successfully jump the two pins, youll get a message on the screen that says press FN + X, to enter programming mode(or something like that), then you release the paper clip and then press Fn+X....if you not seeing the message on the screen then either your not jumping right or maybe you have the wrong pins jumped.

What I did on my 600M was have someone else press the on button so you could concentrate on jumping it. Also , I'm almost certain it worked once they pressed the on button, I then quickly jumped the pins. When I kept the pins jumped before they pressed on, I would get the bios password request screen.

Good luck

Dell Bios password

Thank you for your reply.

I can get the screen with the fn+x screen no problem, it's just from that point on. I hit fn+x at the same time or hold in the fn and then hit x, but nothing. It's almost like the keyboard is not working, but it is, i did test it out. I can get by the bios screen when i do the paper clip trick, if i hold the clip on before i power up, and i can get in to the bios, but it said no service tags so i can't reset the password. I got a dump of the bios and the eeprom chip. I am now trying to see if i can try to read the dump, but i never done that before, so it's a learning process and a slow one. I used a program called "bios320.exe", tried to recover the password, but it didn't work, so i used it to get the dump of the bios and eeprom. If anyone has any input to what i can do, i would love to hear it.

Thanks again.

Where can I find a Hash Code converter?

I have a HP ZE4600 and the hash code is 12152.

I've tried unlock6.exe, but it's for other HP models

I don't mind converting the hash code myself if someone can tell me what the name of the program is which will work with the ZE4600

Thank you!!

If you can get into bios and it says no service tag, cant you use the service tag program to change the service tag? If so just change the order it boots to cd first and make a copy of the service tag changer utility and boot from it

You're sure the hard drive(hard disk) doesnt also have a password?

Thank you for your reply.

If you are able to boot from anything, use dst software.
If not, read pdf from Fastback68 and use paperclip procedure.

Dell D620 password problem need help

Heloo all.
I've been reading the threads about dell password unlocking and came out that my model is not supporting the "shorting method".
The story on short:I had for about 2 years an dell d610 laptop who worked flawlesly.2 months ago i borrowed the laptop to a good friend of mine to do some word writing. He dropped it and the lcd shatterd badly and doesnt start anymore:(.My friend bought for me another laptop from ebay this time an dell d620.I was glad about it because it has better specs but till i power it on.The grey screen appears and requires a password:((.So if anyone can help-maybe Rustam who helped other people with the same laptop.

The info about the laptop:
the code on the grey screen:#56A294*-595B.(yes is an asterix).
SERVICE TAG:9R5913J.
BIOS REV:A08.

Thank you very much.

Dell won't help me

Long story short. My Dell XPS M140 will not let me boot up because of PW protection. I called Dell and gave them my info: Service tag: bwmm291 and Exp service code: 25917504229. I am the original owner with all the correct info, however since my warranty has expired they will not unlock my laptop. Unless I pay them $239.00. Are they serious? Can anyone help me?

The deadly logon screen code is: #bwmm291-595b

Moderator Edit:
Price at Dell is $49 only (without warranty)

I tried also contact the seller but doesn't answer to my mails(or don't wanna answer or he bought it with password and sell it again). The Dell support cannot help me because i'm not the original owner and the change owner process from the Dell webpage doesn't let me complete the process.(i don't know the original owner name). So i have very options left.I may try this website: Spam link removed but i dont know if they are for real or fake. The funny thing is that the laptop has warranty till 07/2010.:)

Dell Info:

Dell Registration
http://support.dell.com/support/top...tag_transfer?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1
After registering with Dell (for approx $49) You can then get any Password removed.
(works on all Dell models)

dst-cd.iso
http://www.download.centre4service.com/software1.html
password: smellyalater
creates a bootable CD, which will allow you to change or remove the service tag. With this, the BIOS Primary password is gone
(Does not work on all Dell models)

PaperClip Method:
https://www.techspot.com/vb/post645683-936.html
(Does not work on all Dell models)

Here is some info from the HP / Dell / etc. laptop password help thread
