I have dell latitude d600.
I see that you have sent a message off to one of the old spammers here (I take it for private purchasing of password)

All members should first try all standard options outlined here: Dell Bios Password removal. Read this first BEFORE posting.
If that does not help whatsoever, then Google externally, I'm sure you'll get a thousand hits on private pay for options

TechSpot is only Free service, or manufacture options only

Maybe Rustam_ could help me

I have a Dell Latitude D620 I hope you can help me please
Bios Revision A08

dell latitude d600

well i solved my problem with config or admin setup password in bios on latitude d600.
It' s very simple and solution is already on this forum, but here is how i did it.
You must remove your service tag and the admin or config password will be removed.
The method is for -595B chips

Here is the solution;
1. *make boot floppy diskette 1.44mb, in windows by clicking on format and create Ms-dos startup disk

2. download from
http://www.download.centre4service.com/software1.html
the file name dstcd, open it, pass is smellyalater and copy that folder to another diskette.

3. restart computer and press F12, boot first startup disk, than the dstcd diskette, then you have order svctag.exe and a rest is easy.

* The reason why I first make windows startup disk is because i couldn't boot system with dstcd diskette.

well for 75$, the price they want for passwords, i can buy new laptop :)
Now I'm in dilema do i need to put my back old service tag, or it's not important..

omnibook 4150

Geez, a lot of crap towards dells, but my old crap omnibook 4150 is still stripped to boards. not one reply to my pleas for help. or maybe im not even smart enough to figure this site out. i am frustrated as all H@LL! isnt there a paperclip thingie or some way to do this H.P. ??? i dont mind doing the work if someone could just PLEASE give me a direction?????

I haven't got anything about HPs, regarding shorting etc
I hope someone can advise you, then we'll both know
Have you found out any info through Googling or anything?
By the way this is the correct thread for this, it's just that because of the Dell spam nuisance factor, I got stuck on trying to find free alternatives for all.

Thank God!!

no, i havent found Anything googling... everything seems to be towards dells. i found what i think is the eeprom but i dont know if shorting it like a dell will work or hurt??? my hash code is 09086, but they want money to get the pwd. it aint worth 50.00
thankyou for a reply tho, just glad i arent too stupid to work a forum?? LOL!

Well I've gone to HP and argued their outrageous amount (250 or something ludicrous) Basically HP must have the computer returned, whereas Dell don't (thank god) Anyway the debate with HP finished like this. No

That's when I thought to myself, I'm never buying a HP, what if I lock myself out, I'd be better off buying a new computer (which is likely their point)

Have you thought of getting a Dell? :D

They all have some Downs??

I've been a basic tech for some years, and my experiences have been the same everywhere?? A friend had me look at her pc and it had to be formatted.... when i opened her cd pack, i found the operating system cd wasent there. They wanted to sell her an xp cd for 250.00 and wouldnt do anything for her. I explained that we just need a cd and i already have a key and they wouldnt do anything unless she paid 250.00. I installed from my cd and used her key and she got it for free, but thats the point. Gateway BTW. so they all seem to do something... at least this is my own damn fault cause i should have done my homework before i spent my money. even if fixed id be lucky to get 75.00 for it .
Thanks, Brian

The Dell Service Tag allows you to get updates automatically for drivers and things. ie using this: https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic100658.html

It also allows the computer's history to continue, basically it also helps when selling it as well, as many "in the know" buyers will not buy a Dell without one, or will look very suspiciously at someone trying to sell a Dell without a Service Tag

Anyway, I'd put it back on, why not
